If you want to upset the Bitcoin miners, just bring up the fact that German investigators have discovered pedophiles are using the Bitcoin blockchains to spread child pornography links. I'm sure it'll go over well.

Ambien is fine for a lot of people, the biggest issue I've noticed is when they take their prescribed dose, 45 minutes later they forget they took it and take it again, repeat a few times and then they wake up/come to 12 hours later with a monkey, a pineapple, a spork and their back side hurts.

It's also obviously not real, the disconnect is harder to manage when it's reality TV type stuff that Twitch seems to encourage, where being a racist shithead on camera is probably more true to life than 'oh no a crazed killer is on the loose, better split up gang!'. So we're giving Zabbix another shot and everything is going waaaaaay better than last time (probably because our scope is different and we're pretty much only using snmp for everything) but now I've been asked to come up with the "Default dashboard" for the instance and I'm just kind of staring blankly at the one that comes out of the box and I'm not even sure what I need to have. Anybody else using Zabbix got any insider tips or lessons they wished they knew from the get-go? EDIT: We're on 3.4 if that matters. Group everything appropriately. I prefer to keep the main dashboard pretty simple. Just the "last 20 issues" and "System Status" sections. If there are any triggers, they appear in the Last 20 issues section, I can then click on the alert and check into it more if needed. I don't bother keeping graphs on the screen; instead I make sure the triggers are set so if something starts to go above/below threshold it throws an alert. 90% of what I monitor are Windows and Linux servers. The Zabbix Agent is used for that purpose. SNMP is used for our routers. I utilize the standard Windows Server template and also some add-on templates for Microsoft SQL, and Active Directory. I also made a custom template for our Windows CCTV servers that watches the status of the various Windows Services that support that function. For our routers I monitor availability (ping), CPU usage, and the status of the secondary WAN connection. A trigger fires if bytes/sec goes over a certain level. I use this as a indicator the router has switched over to the secondary WAN. stevewm fucked around with this message at 19:03 on Mar 22, 2018 |

stevewm posted:Group everything appropriately. Alright, seems pretty in line with how I've been doing it so far. One thing though, is that I can't get the entries where there are no errors to show 0 and turn green. I dunno if that's something they just did in 3.4 vs the older versions, but it would be nice to have.

Inspector_666 posted:Alright, seems pretty in line with how I've been doing it so far. Yeah, likely is a change they made. I am still on 3.2.6. Haven't had time to do the upgrade yet. I forgot to mention, make absolutely sure your house keeping settings are enabled. Under Administration/General/Housekeeping. It used to be disabled by default, so your database would continue to grow indefinitely. I ended up with a 75GB database before I realized this. I ended up having to manually delete the history and trends tables to fix it.

If you're going to print your resume at work, don't call the file RESUME.DOC because it shows that JSMITH printed it on the copier and all that. instead call it something like Font Configuration.doc edit: that reminds me of the custom email filter the owner of a place I once worked at had me set up. It had a crazy word list of things that would cause an email to be silenty forwarded to him. Certain product names, companies, words like resume, pay, etc

Samsung does this too - I mainly use it to see if my job actually completed or if some dumb poo poo cancelled it/it stopped due to an unannouced system error. (At least for print jobs - copies it just says "copy job" or whatever, but will still indicate completion or not.) In othrr news, sounds like the City of Atlanta got Shermanwared...
