Only if providing monitoring on a network/data stream service counts as help desk. In theory you have no contact with the client except emails to tell them things went down/things got fixed and how.

Ah yes right up there with datacenters whose only point of contact is a support portal hosted at the datacenter. So they are completely impossible to contact during an outage.

This is just an acceleration of what writing already does to you. Pre-literate or semi-literate societies produce people with much better memories than literate ones.
