Ghost Dog posted:im responding to this sentiment i see expressed all the time, like espn is at the whims of some weird Public Opinion Gauge that hamstrings these otherwise noble journalists. their coverage has been poo poo for so long, the people they hire mostly loving suck, they are terrible at making any decent programming and i don't think they 1. are as helpless as people want to claim they are and 2. actually have any real ability to say what the public wants. Yeah, like we watch ESPN becuase its decent to have on in the background even if it is lovely. I leave sportscenter on in the background muted, then unmute it for good segments. But there are a lot less of those than there used to be. Same with their website, I'm giving it hits, but I'm not reading articles anymore, just checking scores and looking at headlines. I'd engage way more way if they started doing good coverage again. Anyone remember the Daily Dime? Think about how awesome it would be to have that back, but with condensed highlights and poo poo? I'd read that poo poo every day. But they don't have anything good anymore, besides Lowe's weekly column. Woj breaks news, but his articles tend to be mediocre hit pieces. They brought in the draft express guys, but I haven't seen poo poo from them. Like they put out lovely content, and wonder why people don't read them anymore. They decided that it was a better use of their time to cover guys like Lavar instead of doing better pieces, things about basketball. Like, there are tons of dudes on youtube who break down film for patreon money, and they provide way better content than ESPN has in ages. These guys could be part of an ESPN effort to rebrand as a more detail oriented brand, that actually tries to get into the mechanics of the sports they show, but they'd rather just go with easy coverage. And they get away with it becuase ESPN is on in public everywhere that doesn't want to deal with people arguing about which cable news channel should be on. I'm kind of ranting, but ESPN is 100% wasted potential at this point, and as Disney continues to tighten the screws, its gonna get worse. If ESPN wanted to be relevant today, they need to loving fix their streaming service, its gone like a decade back in terms of usability this year. Like, you're a live media company, how are you not putting your energy into creating a good digital delivery service? Sketchy cam girl sites can get it right, how the gently caress can Disney be this poo poo at it?

Rick posted:Speaking of the Lakers, man the team is so much fun when Julius Randle and Ingram are playing well at the same time. I know a team with Randle as their second best player probably isn't a title, or even a playoff team but it's a fun experience overall and I"m going to be sad when it's over. Yeah, when he post moves are working, he is really fun to watch, but Randle is just so terrible to watch when he tries to score through a crowd. I'm also still not convinced he has learned to set a legal screen yet, but he seems be enough of a vet that he can get away with it

Lmao Also, most players are devastated when a coach they've been with most of their career gets fired, even if it helps the team. There were a ton of people worried that the Warriors chemistry would implode when the fired Mark Jackson.
