HM: Toru Yano vs SANADA, 3/15 New Japan Cup 2018 Quarterfinals What can I say, I loved this. Doesn't waste any time and it was a riot to see SANADA completely out-Yanoing the Sublime Master Thief. The post-match bit was also some  poo poo.MOTYC: Zack Sabre Jr. vs Kota Ibushi, 3/15 New Japan Cup 2018 Quarterfinals Match was loving lit, y'all. I think it could've used a little more time to make it a MOTYC but I think the relative brevity of it serves a function in the story they're telling in the Cup. Edit: After rewatching the ZSJ match and considering it again I've changed my HM to a MOTYC too. MOTYC - ZSJ vs Ibushi (3/15) - That match was tremendous. Even better than the Naito match. Told a great story with ZSJ having a counter for everything that Ibushi tried. Great finish too. I don't think it will be the best match of 2018 but I do think that HM is underrating it.

It's not quite at HM level but if you're subscribed to DDT, check out the Miyu Yamashita/Maho Kurone match from Tokyo Joshi Pro for their title. They managed to have a really good match working around Maho's gimmick of being a literal zombie.

Spectacular match, amazing storytelling, and it elevated ZSJ from good/great to an absolute monster. Plus his post match comments (both TAKA’s managerial turn and Sabre’s amazing way of being Suzuki 2.0 only British) are helping him reach top tier status.

HM: John "Bad Bones" Klinger (c) vs. WALTER vs. Ilja Dragunov (wXw Unified World Wrestling Championsip, wXw 16 Carat Gold Night 2 03/10) I've been hearing a lot of good things about this match so I checked it out on Highspots. Maybe if I fully followed the story of Ilja and his comeback, it'd be MOTYC territory for me but it was still a really fantastic match that told a really great story in isolation of Ilja getting absolutely brutalised by WALTER and Bad Bones and fighting through getting his chest bloodied within minutes of the match starting. A few minor nitpicks in that it follows the same structure I hate about all multiman matches where one of the guys sits on his arse outside the ring while the other two fight and switch out ad nauseum and Ilja uses a loving Burning Hammer as the set up for his finish and the international rights on the music or whatever cut off what looked like a monster pop for Ilja's entrance and a live band for Bad Bones's entrance. Definitely makes me want to see more of wXw though. Between Ilja's return here and Zack's New Japan Cup run, it's been a good week in wrestling for international socialism!

WMOTY La Parka & Pagano vs Dave The Clown & Hijo del Dr. Wagner Jr. - AAA 3/17 Featuring La Parka hitting Hijo de Tirantes with his dick, Dave the Clown’s mask coming off, two run-ins, other classic Tirantes bits, and also Hijo de Wagner somehow getting a hat in the middle of the match.
