RealFoxy posted:It's still funny to me that KUSHIDA and Tanahashi are part of that stable for god knows why and are the only two ever in any title picture, ever. Funky Future had the straps before Roppongi 3K returned and I wouldn't doubt Super 69 getting a crack after R3K disposed of the Bucks. Not to mention the times Taguchi Japan held the trios belts. And Juice continually gaining title shots by losing title shots for lower value belts. Also, War Machine just held the tag belts for a good chunk of the year and they are affiliates. Please respect Taguchi Japan, the best coached faction in New Japan.

I'm so down with Jay White joining Chaos for entirely selfish reasons and not being buddy-buddy with anyone in the group. His annoyed explanation to the reporters was great.

Also, it never really made sense in other promotions to have one faction that runs roughshod while everybody else looks like a dumbass for not making some friends with matching t-shirts.

Kitamura is going to beat Mike Elgin. I feel it in my bones. Also, what's the deal with Henare? Did he get the David Finlay graduation where you don't go on excursion and are completely ignored? It's a bit of a bummer because I had high hopes for him.

I think Kenny might be approaching the standalone draw level for New Japan and the Switchblade double cross at New Year Dash got a pretty huge reaction. I wonder if being the only person to ever turn down Bullet Club and declare open war will be the thing that makes White's return click.

Incessant Excess posted:I felt that with how quick he was ushered to the back and how all the post match was about Kenny, the title winner got made to look like an afterthought. It's definitely that in part but you can also read it as Jay White barely surviving the match and getting out while he still has an energy left to move. The entire story of Switchblade vs Bullet Club is him picking a fight that he rightfully shouldn't win, but being just clever/crazy enough to make it work. I really hope that he just washes Hangman without breaking a sweat. Like repeated Bladerunners until Cody throws in the towel.

Switchblade is literally only a member of CHAOS for backup when he has to fight Bullet Club. He has open disdain for his stablemates and they just team with him because they don't want to disappoint the man who makes it rain money. Once Bullet Club is under Cody control and a complete non-threat, Jay White will just turn on his team like he's been saying he will do form the start.

Tama Tonga is a good midcard guy who stands out with a unique style but will never blow you away. Also he is very handsome and I like when he and his brother say "gently caress." The Tongans drat well better side with Kenny because Cody is the most recent BC member and he hasn't done jackshit. Fale and Tama are the only OGs left, so I'd hope they side with history.

Shame that everyone is high on Taichi now that he is legally dead. Also, that main event was a great heavyweight audition for Ospreay and probably a top 5 match in NJPW for him. Elgin beating Ishii is the most baffling thing. I thought it was pretty clear from the brackets that Ishii was headed to the finals but instead we got Elgin busting it the super death finisher in the first round because he's a strong wrestleman? Also, Yujiro hitting multiple finishers in the center of the ring only for Juice to kick out was a hilarious way to demonstrate just how weak Yujiro is outside of multimans.

Baron Corbyn posted:The best countout spot they did was when SANADA put Yano in the Paradise Lock and just left him on the ramp. I wouldn't complain if they just do it again in their upcoming match. I hope we get a call back and Yano breaks out to make it into the ring by 19. Also, the ref should probably not start counting with both guys outside of the ring because hitting 20 before anyone made it back would just end things without a winner which wouldn't make sense considering that NJC matches have no time limits to avoid draws.

The match veered a little bit too much into Ospreay being a god at the end and Marty winning by dropping the villain poo poo and just being brutal would have been perfect. I just don't think the Oscutter is a cool enough move to be a one and done finisher after taking so much damage.

His mid-2000's stuff in NOAH is top notch, his heel turn was a game changer for him, and his short return to AJPW is underrated as well. The real surprise for me in the match was Tiger Mask seeming to have a fire lit under his rear end. Did I miss somewhere announcing this as his last go in BOSJ because he wrestled like it is.
