When Martin kicked his 4th or 5th it was off the back of adelaide forgetting to nominate a ruck which left Riewoldt to take the ball out of the ruck unopposed with nobody allowed to touch him and kick it towards the square

No, you misunderstand the rule. Opponents aren't allowed to touch IT but they are allowed to touch HIM.

An Adelaide player could have tackled him and as he took it out of the ruck it’s automatic prior and holding the ball if he doesn’t dispose correctly. Adelaide are just dumb

Apparently Paddy McCartin said this the other day:

quote:

“Going into a game if I’m nervous, generally what will happen is my blood sugars will run a bit higher,” McCartin said.

“If my blood sugars are like 18 or 19, it’s the equivalent of being really hung-over.”

You'd sure as gently caress hope that the Saints knew about this and if it can be effectively managed before they took him with pick 1. It does potentially explain why some games he looks super lethargic and others he looks fine.

While I've seen signs that indicate to me that Paddy has the skill to live up to being taken with pick 1, this worries me a lot.

To be fair, he seems to be describing what it feels like to have a high blood sugar reading, not saying that he can't manage it with insulin on game-day. It might not be a problem at all, just something he needs to recognise and respond to with proper treatment.

His diabeetus was well known in his draft year and was a topic of considerable interest to the Saints before they drafted. EQ did a detailed piece on it.
