if I posted an anonymized version of my resume would y'all be willing to spitball titles/salary ranges I could seek out? having a lull at my job and while I do really love it I also do think that I could wring a few more decifiggies from the org. thinking about taking some time to do some applications and maybe get an offer so I can go to my boss and say "these people will pay me X, I really do think you should be paying me at least X-N" or something

hey I'm not even making it to interviewing: where does one look for jobs nowadays I got put on welcometothejungle which is pretty good but also thin on actual postings. the postings themselves are of higher quality but I'm only getting like one a day linkedin is garbage, indeed is mildly less garbage, I am painfully unaware of the rest of the options

from my understanding a startup would be unlikely to want to hire me but maybe that's just the really early stage ones, I'll try that out

the only person I know with a harvard degree was the CLO at my last job who had a doctorate in "education leadership" and was useless similarly the only person I know with a degree from MIT got a masters from their business school and was, well. an MBA lmao minivanmegafun posted:give me more resumes from state unis no one cares about

related, since not everyone posting on discord is posting here: I am in dire need of a position, mostly a python toucher with like five years of experience... teaching bootcamps and bootcamp-adjacent material ![]() if you have a dev position or something that might suit that background (I think I could make a decent technical writer or something) let a fella know. can send u a resume if u want

CarForumPoster posted:post up a resume for tips here or in the bfc thread. iirc lockback who posts in bfc and not so much here hires touchers, i formerly hired touchers, we can give you tips enough people have given me resume advice, much of it conflicting, that I'm frankly tired of it lmao. but yes all the other poo poo is set up and going many of my former students are more than willing to refer me; the issue is that I am a reasonably competent person, but on paper all I am is a teacher. I know that I can work in a full dev environment even if I've not done it before, but convincing people of that is a reasonable challenge

hi I'm still looking for a job and poo poo Sucks am wondering if not having a B.S. in CS is hurting me. I know most places don't care but there are a few that do, and I wonder if a glut of bootcamp program grads plus the rise of LLM horseshit means a MS is the way to go my friend got his MS from WGU in like a yearish by essentially grinding at it like a motherfucker, which I could do, but gently caress me I don't want student loan debt again?

PIZZA.BAT posted:how much experience do you have? if you’re talking about going to boot camps then i’m guessing not much. the market outright sucks right now especially for entry level people. i’m not sure a masters will help I took two years of CS as a second bachelors before I dropped out because it sucked, and ended up at a bootcamp myself. I've been teaching this poo poo for like five years and I've met a number of people who are like, yeah I'd hire you, but we're (in the middle of being acquired/trying to reduce headcount/panicking at the C-level because our president is a moron/only hiring local to california). like nominally I'm somewhere between junior and midlevel it's just a matter of getting to a god damned interview and talking to a human being about it

b0lt posted:experience teaching at a bootcamp is going to be treated as worthless, because too many bootcamps pumped their hiring statistics by hiring students that failed to get a job to teach their next wave of failing students what if I was the exception tho not that it matters, my previous employer got bought out by perdoceo and I can only assume the brand's rep is insanely negative at this point
