think i mentioned this before but my data structures prof got fired for teaching the wrong curriculum basically. we were given an easy final but that class taught me very little past linear structures.

plan to the course in another lang as soon as possible but needed the grade at the time.

Thanks for all the recommendations

I remember one of my professors saying that some people have advocated for engineering degrees to take 5 years instead of 4. I've never heard of that outside of that professor so I'm not sure if it's BS, but after going through a pretty tough engineering program it makes sense why.

ca universities remove certain ge requirements for engineering students which might be the application of this.

oh, rip. most big corporations will offer "new grad" positions which seems to be a one weird trick for lowering position compensation. that being said everything else is 3-5 years. entry level it maybe 1-2 years exp.

id settle for a long contract internship at this point but thatd be a hard pill with 10+ mfg eng xp.

applied toa bunch of internships this morning. tried to stick with companies that have a track record for long contracts + internship extensions. can i get away with negotiating the duration if they interview and like me or is that just gonna tank my chances?

did a couple entry level position apps w pretty much no xp demands but those all listed triple digit applicants.

having trouble finding entry level computer jobs on the usual boards. their mostly classified as "new grad" positions which i am not. either my resume is real bad or I have to accept that employers wont waste their time until I complete my degree next year. job boards keep trying to steer me to cnc jobs instead which is demoralizing. my company does literally nothing with computers it seems so a transfer is unlikely.

It’s an unbounded editor that compiles and runs the code. That’s several steps up from a whiteboard and if you can’t demonstrate ordinary programming competence with it then that sucks 4u

Every few minutes I’d prompt this guy, like, he’s out of the running for the job but can I at least let him finish the session on a high note? Apparently not.

You can talk about your approach before you start coding, if you want. “Hmm”
Is there a way to create a map that contains more than one type of value? “Hmm”
Could you try running the code you have typed so far? (trying to maybe kick off a feedback cycle) “Hmm”

The team rates coding on a ten point scale. I gave this guy a zero and he earned it. Wtf did he think was gonna happen, angels appearing during the interview to give him the job?

look i was busy thinking okay??
