Different syndication cuts might remove more or less of the scene, possibly. And/or it's just one of those bits that's good but you totally forget after the next part.

The syndication cut out a scene with Homer staying in the hotel during the Freddie Quimby trial where he starts throwing the couch and bed out of the window to Barney since he thought it was free stuff from the hotel. It's sort of funny but not necessary to the story.

is the christmas tree with a B also a corporate logo of some kind? because "burns picks two obvious examples that can't be used, smithers says we'll find something else, and they end up copying a third, more obscure corporate logo anyway" is definitely a simpsons kind of joke but i don't recognize it.
