To look at this as "Ethiopia" is to see a fantasy of a united country rather than a collection of ethnic mini-states. Right now, and arguably since the start of his presidency, Abiy has been reliant on certain Ethnic regions and their affiliated militias; militias that don't care about borders or agreements they just know that they've been farming on this land for 25 years and the Sudanese military never bothered them before, that's a loving generation of people born and raised who worked that land and were told it was their
