Iran would be threatening the Iraqi bourgeois and middle classes by removing the US presence. It wouldn't make it through parliament because the moneyed interests would be hounding the MPs.

The Iranian regime has been overestimated by the western press and the neoconservatives. The country is in economic shambles and their various proxies across the middle east like Hezbollah are basically just an anti-Zionist street gang at this point.

no one in Iraq ever made a profit from America, that’s why Iran is way more popular than America has ever been.

Doesn’t work that way, otherwise Zaid would be his son too.

Patrilenial descent isn’t an Arab tradition anyway, if Islam were a tribe then either Abu Bakr would inherit because he’s his cousin and thus the next sheik, or he was elected, and thus the next sheik.

Abiy is starting fights all over the place. The land in question is Sudanese, and recognized as Sudanese by the Ethiopian government. The squatters farming on it are from the only ethnic group that currently somewhat supports the government (Abiy having angered everyone else), and so he needs to stand firm on this or be overthrown.

Neat note; the flag there is the imperial flag, not the Ethiopian flag.

To look at this as "Ethiopia" is to see a fantasy of a united country rather than a collection of ethnic mini-states.

Right now, and arguably since the start of his presidency, Abiy has been reliant on certain Ethnic regions and their affiliated militias; militias that don't care about borders or agreements they just know that they've been farming on this land for 25 years and the Sudanese military never bothered them before, that's a loving generation of people born and raised who worked that land and were told it was their

Locals have said they believe the church was targeted by raiders of the lost ark. The church is thought to contain the original Ark of the Covenant, a sacred golden chest first mentioned in the book of Exodus that carried the 10 commandments, parts of sacred scripture, Aaron’s rod, and a pot of manna. They believed the attackers wanted to steal the Ark of the Covenant and take it to the capital city of Addis Ababa, the Church Times reported. This ark is guided by a single priest who never leaves the compound, and it is not allowed to be seen by anyone else, so whether it is really the true Ark has been debated by historians for centuries.
