anyway, ontario is discontinuing AZ for first doses now. not quite sure what our plan is re: second doses either, as usual David Williams wasn't super clear about that

BC will probably follow suit and only give AZ as second doses pretty soon, esp. if you're under 40

Just got my appointment for Vancouver Island, same age group. It felt like my invitation to book took a really long time to be released, but maybe I'm just impatient.

Looking forward to the kids getting theirs next month.

Pfizer gang out of YYC here just chiming in to say that the whole process was quite painless (other than the original short wait to book the appointment when Alberta opened up the 30+ age group last week). Had an appointment booked yesterday, went in, got the poke and have been feeling pretty good most of yesterday and today minus a surprisingly tender shoulder.

I was quite impressed by the # of volunteers at the telus convention center and the speed/process that really flowed through. I did have a bit of a chuckle seeing just how many people are there to help herd people through the lines into the building. It seemed like they could have had 50% less volunteers and been equally effective but I'm thankful anyway for all the people putting the time and effort forwards to help. Part of me wonders if they could take a portion of the volunteers to have additional vaccine locations rather than bringing everyone all together, but that's more of just a thought than anything.

It was encouraging to see how many people were both in line and coming/going throughout the short 40m experience I had from driving into the convention center to leaving after the wait period, it's no wonder though that there are so many 12-40 aged just waiting patiently for our turn.

I really don't know what to think about the idea of the Calgary Stampede this summer, even with the encouraging #s and the number of people I saw yesterday, not a single part of me would ever think it a good idea, especially if Canada is still planning to limit tourists and out of country travelers.

now imagine the stampede in a pandemic!

folks!

the volunteer overrun sounds like the ol pain in the rear end where if you have 20 volunteer candidates on your list you’ll get 10 to actually sign up and 5 of them ever show. if everyone on the list really shows up you have way more than you need, but you can’t ever count on that

does Saskatchewan still have their own bus service? I imagine more provinces will do that, or let the people suffer.
