He's a stray who always joins demonstrations and riots in Antofagasta, hanging out with the frontlines fighting the cops. He was injured by a police shotgun last year, but wouldn't let himself be caught to take im him to the vet by concerned activists who saw him limping around. So they decided to organise a march from the central plaza where el Vaquita usually hangs out, to a nearby veterinarian's office who had agreed to help out  El Vaquita in his element before his injury:    The march to the vet:    El Vaquita all better again, and back with his friends:

it is a testament to the goodness of dogs that they always seem to side with the people being attacked by cops. police dogs are deeply cursed, a thing that should not be.

Dogs don't have a whole lot of agency unfortunately. Training them (and horses too!) to be cops is animal abuse. Somebody post the dog biting a cop, freeing a victim of police violence. She plays with my dog in the yard so I figured she was a lock for adoption and that was the last time I'd see her (One of my cats is mortally offended by her very existence, so I wouldn't be able to adopt her). Turns out she's nasty enough, and the organizations through put of cats is high enough, they can't devote the effort she would need to domesticate (if it would work at all). So, I now have a backyard kitty that I will be caretaking. She has shelter, food and water. I'm going to look at getting my own trap so I can at least try to get her immunized on a regular schedule.  (this is not a picture from her release. She was greased lightning when the trap opened and is either under or in my shed right now.)

Hey, that was me yesterday! My in-laws' cat got knocked up in late February and the kitties are just about weaned. I've been cat-less since I lost mine to the Great Litter Box in the Sky last summer, so we've got dibs on the orange fella and one of the tabby girls. It was well worth listening to my mother-in-law prattle on about... whatever she was talking about, idk, I had a lap full of cute and didn't care.
