Jesustheastronaut! posted:How much grinding and farming is involved in this game? I played a monster Hunter game for the PSP and eventually quit because I was just farming materials for better equipment. Is this more of the same? Not too much, it mostly depends on how many weapons you want to play with. If you stick to one weapon you like, there will probably one point near the end of the main story where you'll need to grind a bit to get the parts to make yourself a great armor set and your best upgraded weapon, but it doesn't take too long. Obviously the more weapons you want to use, the more you'd need to grind to make them and armor that complements them.

extremebuff posted:the LR version doesnt even go into hyper mode where he deflects all attacks and randomly shoots out high damage+stunning+paralyzing bolts on top of his now much faster attacks and constantly moves around like a dickhead aFUCK the kirin Elderseal cancels his lightning armor that makes you bounce, but he's still gonna be jumping and zapping all over the place. I've beat him on High Rank a few times and he's not too bad with a heavy weapon that can smash him down since you don't even need to care about the armor. Not looking forward to the Tempered version though.

Wow I really had nothing to worry about. Took Tempered Kirin down with my hammer without dying

tao of lmao posted:Charge blade with heavy bowgun as my secondary. Basically you wanna customize an armor set for each weapon, with a good set of skills that will be most helpful for your play style. The loadout feature makes it easy to switch between sets when you're ready to go out. So it's hard to give general advice, you'd be better off looking up things online suggesting useful skills or builds for your weapons.

CRIP EATIN BREAD posted:is there any reason i should bother killing a tempered pukei pukei? That's the next stage of the game after elder dragons. If you finish the main story and want to keep playing, tempered monsters is what's next.

One of the new elder dragons took me 49 minutes to kill, I've never been so relieved to see a monster die

I think just buying the expansion unlocks a few things that will be available from the beginning, such as the clutch claw. So if you're planning on getting it eventually anyway might as well go for it now.
