What's the website that shows the price history for Steam games? My wife says that an old friend has convinced her to play FFXIV and while I strongly suspect that she has been replaced by a bodysnatcher I would like to see when the last time the game and expansion were on sale. There's still the goon who does Steam sales at a reduced price, too, right? Or did he quit?

I want to say isthereanydeal.com has price charts but I'm too lazy to check

Yeah, Terranigma and Illusion of Gaia are both pretty dark

You develop humanity into a modern society, but with the subtext that you sacrificed the building blocks you discovered along the way to get there

wasn't the whole thing with terranigma that you were a shadow clone created by the underworld that was supposed to bring the world to fruition so that they could control it all or am i thinking of one of possible 3 million other japanese snes era games

Yeah pretty much. You're dark Ark and eventually you combine with light ark in the restored world (in a scene that lasts like 30 seconds and doesn't really get explained much further, an obvious sign of time constraints in storyboarding)

Cowcaster posted:

what the gently caress was "dark friar" supposed to be a translation of

It was supposed to be dark frier, a poor engrish expression of a thing that fries other things.

e: IoG's translation was REALLY shoddy

Also, the Wii version removes all bullet spray due to the way the aiming with the wiimote works. Which means the TMP ends up becoming an amazing weapon instead of something that's only good when you're closely surrounded by zombies and for the beginning of the game.

FirstAidKite posted:

I always saw it as optimistic because death is just another part of the cycle in life, death, and rebirth, with Ark being able to have his one final day and also being able to dream his last dream, resting easy, and knowing that even if he goes away, there'll come another day when fate ties everyone back together again. He will return, whether by the name Ark, or by the name Will, or by the name Blazer, or maybe by some other name, and the process will repeat, and he will always be there along with his Elle, his Kara, his Lisa.

The depressing corollary is that Ark has no agency. Throughout the game, he's used by people -- by the Elder, by Dark Yomi, by Meilin, by Beruga. That only agency he has is the opportunity to usurp their plans and set the cycle anew, and is that even his own decision when the alternative is allowing the world to be consumed by evil?

SSLPs are still the best, because sometimes the editorializing is quite good, and if it's not, you can flat out ignore it.

I appreciate that they're a crazy amount of effort, though.
