incorrect, communism discourages the overconsumption of material goods and delusional idea that you will attain untold riches if you work yourself to death for your capitalist masters. You will have control over what you produce and decide what to do with it, alienation from your work will fade away and you will instead use your productive power to create a better society. This feeling of purpose and direction in your life will satisfy you better than any amount of opiods, video games or sex robots. You will be connected to your community and as a whole we will build towards a better future. however in capitalism you can buy a new iphone, but not insulin sorry

Incidentally this was also the social system of the Soviet union, it's just that Stalin said "this is it guys, we did it!" and western propaganda seized the moment to say "YEP!" and here we are now, arguing what specific form of capitalism is the coolest.

I love that the iPhone is the epitome of capitalist consumerism in every communist example. They’re right, not because the iPhone is something unnecessary in their view, but because there would have been no mobile networks because the government wouldn’t have built any and no semiconductor industry to make the chips needed to construct a mobile phone or the computers that route their data or lithium polymer batteries or flash memory.

i think we should have digital communism first, just to try it out and see how it goes. eliminate all copyright laws and allow people to publish doom mods and harry potter fan fiction freely. also make bittorrent legal and let anyone upload TV shows to youtube. this is the bare minimum what communism should be able to accomplish. if we can handle that we can move on to physical goods

Like you own your labour? I think only when you are able to sell copyright would it become capitalist.
