Some more free money came in and I have enough for a bunker, but not enough for the upgrades (assuming costs are still the same as the How to Not Suck guide). Should I wait until I have enough to buy and upgrade all at once? I'm about $900k short. I assume I don't want to spend myself down to $0 either, so it's probably more like I need another $1.5 million.

I'm working on the RDR revolver headshots now and I can still do the 2FA for another $500k.

A lot of the businesses suck without upgrades... IMO it’s a way for rock star to make more money on shark cards. You think you have enough, but then realize you NEED the upgrades.

Not sure about the bunker in particular though.

Do you have a nightclub already? If yes, buying the bunker and doing nothing else with it is worth it just to have weapons coming in there.

If you don't, (or you do and you actually want to run guns through it), either prepare to do a lot of sourcing missions or wait until you can afford the upgrades.

Keep an adversary in the dark about what you're capable of, and he has to assume the worst.
You really want the bunker upgrades because it makes it profitable to buy supplies rather than do the source missions. The security can be put off or skipped.
The bunker is great because with upgrades you buy supplies and go off and do other stuff for a few hours. Once your bunker supplies run out you order another batch and do a sell mission which will be 1 vehicle. The missions are also light years better than the MC business sell missions.

I wouldn't bother doing anything with the bunker until you had upgrades, but it could be worth buying earlier for its interaction with the nightclub like IOwnCalculus said.

I don't have a nightclub yet. I have a CEO Office and an MC Clubhouse (both free).

So the fastest way to passive income will be Buy Bunker -> Buy Nightclub? I have around $2.5 million right now. If passing on the Nightclub for now and waiting on having enough for bunker upgrades leads to a substantially higher rate of passive income, I'd rather do that.

The nightclub should be one of the last things you buy unfortunately, it's great passive income but you want it pulling in from 5 other businesses.
The best businesses to tie it to are
MC: Coke
MC: Meth
MC: Counterfeit Cash
CEO: Crates (warehouse or hangar)
Bunker

You don't need the businesses upgraded or active for nightclub to work. I would try to pick these up when you see them on sale, Rockstar changes what is on sale every Thursday.

You have to spend a small fortune upgrading the nightclub and buying MC businesses to link to it before the rate of income becomes substantial. And you still have to do sell missions, so apart from not having to buy supplies to keep it running, it’s not much more passive than the bunker. I wouldn’t honestly bother with the nightclub until you really have money to burn.

I think this comes down to how you play. If you are actively doing sale then yes, I agree with you, you should be doing the active businesses first since the NC doesn't make a lot of profit until you have the other businesses. However, for someone who just messes around with friends or on goon nights and wants to do the odd sale the NC might be the best option.

Knowing what I know now if I had to do the business grind again I'd probably just skip MC sales entirely and stick with bunker, NC, I/E, and casino heists. The MC sales are such rear end compared to the other options that you should save your sanity and only do them if you have a dedicated group to help with sales or it's a 2x week.

Oh to be clear, I’m not advocating that anyone but a dedicated masochist should actually engage with the MC businesses, just that they’re part of the giant upfront money sink required to get the nightclub running at max profit.

With alot of noobs now going through the early stages of 'what do i buy?', here's my takes on what is worthwhile and what is not. I started right before CEO, so have been around for every iteration of businesses. This may also be a bit of bias, but I'll try to keep it as realistic as possible, basically if I had to start over with either nothing or limited resources, how would I go about it....

Early game, say before your first million. There are several sets of collectibles and small treasure hunt things. Action figures, playing cards, signal jammers, bounty hunting(maude), photo treasure hunt, the slasher. All of these give decent cash and RP and sometimes bonus weapons. I think I figured that starting at level 1, if you did all playing cards it would get you about 20 levels. A few of the weapon ones give 250k each as a completion bonus. Knock these out, get familiar w the map. Also keep your eyes open for freemode stuff like challenges and business battles and Simeons stolen cars. They aren't huge, but it is pretty easy money. There's a few contact missions that are easily replayable solo or with others that pay decent(Titan, dispatch missions, blow ups, etc). Be aware of what the weekly 2x bonuses, and use those to advantage if possible

Whether you started with the CESP and already have an office, or have $50k in cash in your bank, you can become a CEO- this opens up some more early easy money. VIP work like Headhunter(track down 4 dudes and kill em) and Sightseer(track down some packages) pay decent and have a pretty low cooldown before you can play them again

Once you start getting some OK weapons and some levels that allow you to carry a few armors, look for a group interested in doing the original heists. These are pretty skill level appropriate at this point, and have some good unlocks. Armored Kuruma, Buzzard, Insurgent are 3 good ones. If you happen to get a passable crew, doing all 5 heists in order and with the same dudes can get you a quick 2 million$ bonus

So far, haven't even made big property purchases...The ones to watch for on sale, or to save up for are the Bunker, and the CEO office(and then one or more small crate warehouses, and a vehicle warehouse). Most all of the businesses rely on upgrades to be most efficient, but location is most important- if you start with the bunker in a bad spot(the CESP things are poorly located), you should focus on getting enough to move to a better location, before doing upgrades.

Vehicle warehouse has no upgrades. It is free to source cars(other than damage to it when you steal it). There are some gimmicky ways to ensure you are always dealing with top $ cars, and running most efficiently you can sell 3 of those in an hour, for upto 80k apiece - 240k per hour isn't chump change, especially when you can do other things inbetween those sales

Small crate warehouse is also great for noobs and solo players. These do cost you in order to get product, but you make it back immediately when you sell. Good starting strategy is to get 9 crates(do 3 at a time, between selling cars? Sure!) and then sell once you reach that. 2 cycles of that should take a little over an hour and end up netting you about $150k for those 2 cycles. The more crates you sell at once(like in a bigger Medium or Large warehouse) means more profit per crate, but this is where bias creeps in. A lot of players claim this to be the biggest grind of the game, and well, they're mostly right. it is solid work, but it also pays the best ingame besides heists.

Bunker is the 3rd moneymaker here. it's pretty nerfed until you get it upgraded(Equipment first, Staff next, dont worry about Security yet). Once it's upgraded, it's another very steady drip of income, around $165k profit every 2 hours

Those vehicles mentioned above are good purchases during this part of the game, armored kuruma and buzzard especially. The Kuruma makes many contact missions a breeze as NPCs can't shoot you. The buzzard is great for quick transport, and should help speed up your other jobs

At this point you should have a very solid foundation, and be able to reliably churn out a million bucks every 5 hours of game time or so, or have a good nest egg in the bank

This is where it really starts to branch out for next purchases, and IMO is the middle part of the game. Still watching what's on sales, this is the time to pick up more MC businesses(yea, ive ignored them so far on purpose), upgrades on things you have. You're also now solidly in the demo of weaponized vehicles and special vehicles and personal mechanics and all that cool stuff. There's a lot of duplication(nobody needs 18 different gun lockers, right? right?) and obsolete game play mechanics. Maybe it's time to switch the bunker to research now. Maybe you want a hangar and some sweet planes, or big things like a facility(here there be doomsday heist dragons)? Arcade to jump into the casino heist? My advice here is to keep following weekly sales and bonuses, but check out these other options- ride along on some heists, help out with some hangar air crates, ask around if you wnat to try out 3 or 4 different planes for yourself before dropping 5mil on a mistake. This is also where you could be building your nightclub empire and getting that finetuned. Optimally the night club can give you a $750k sale every 20 hours, you only have to do ONE sale, so its as close to truly passive income as you get. The nightclub and Terrorbyte, and by extension the oppressor mk2, I feel to be the biggest goals of this stage. Combined with the arcade and getting better at casino heist setups, it really unlocks the money making potential. Circling back around and trying for the original heist Criminal Mastermind challenge is in this part too i think, it's got a sweet $10m bonus and by this time you are about as ready as you'll get

Endgame IMO is where you're really not caring about money and can instead spend it on whatever dumb poo poo you want! You've either got a big bank, or can pretty easily get a million in just an hour or two. This includes things like fully stacked casino penthouse, CEO garages, propertys all over, support vehicles like the avenger and moc, arena war things. Knowing that there's no money payback on them and being OK with it. Go with your own personal goal here. Do you want 100,000,000 in the bank at one time? Do you just want every weaponized vehicle in the game? 80 cars painted the same shade of Torino Red and Race Yellow?

The most important thing to me is to not get too hung up on THIS IS THE ONLY WAY and doing the same job over and over and over and over. That will burn you out and sour you on that piece of the game. That's also why you keep seeing "watch what's on sale and bonus this week". The businesses and money making things are pretty straight hierarchial. On a per hour purely profit based scale, mc businesses are at the bottom, then the nightclub, then the bunker, then the hangar, then crates and IE, then heists at the top. Effort(crates, IE) and/or skill(heists) are going to pay out way better than ease(nightclub) and speed(MC biz), but you will obviously putting more work into it. There's some pretty objective math that can show business A is better than business B, but a smart player will be able to change that math to match their playstyle, so maybe B is better than A for you

My two cents:
Wait for sales to buy stuff... with the holidays coming, there will be a ton of sales on stuff.
Get the nightclub set up with all floors/upgrades as fast as possible... then leave the game running as much as possible. Nothing felt like end game as much as the nightclub.

I’ve spent myself down to zero after arena buying most of the cars... they are expensive as hell... and that’s coming from someone who owns every Bennys custom. Pretty much everything in the game actually. With the nightclub running in the background I was able to build my war chest up pretty quickly... while not even playing that much. It’s incredible.
Oh and if you want to level up quickly, crates are where it’s at. The sale missions provide a ton of RP because they’re a relic of that stage of the game. I got my second character up to lvl 100 in like no time running crates, then selling... not good money, but RP is huge.

Although, it’s possible I’m wrong about the sales. they are releasing a new update this winter, right?

that's in the guide.

quote:

Lester is one of the most important phone contacts you’ll unlock. To do so:
-Reach Rank 11. Once you do, an L should appear on the map toward the east side of the map, in the industrial area. Go there, talk to Lester, and you'll gain the ability to call him.
-To gain the ability to call off the cops by calling Lester, you must reach Rank 21 and go talk to him in person again. You can do this once every 5 minutes to instantly remove your Wanted level at a cost of $200 per star removed.

Couple of other questions from dumb noob, how do I do Heists? Do I just start out by going to the H next to Lester? I helped a pubbie do a setup mission for one through the phone task list (pair of DeLoreans boosting signals from cars, boats, and a plane).

Most of my time is spent either killing a higher level player and spending the next 15-20 minutes having them kill me until I ghost them (if I can) or chasing around whatever supply, guns, crates are being run around the map.

Put in an insurance claim for your 'piece of poo poo hot rod' and then sell it at Los Santos Customs if you want to get rid of it. You change your personal vehicle by purchasing one online or stealing one and buying a tracker and insurance for it at the previously mentioned Los Santos Customs car shop. You store personal vehicles in your garage, whether that's a garage you purchase or a garage that is attached to an apartment or business (CEO office garage, nightclub garage, facility garage, arena war garage, et cetera)
