Yeah I tried putting in tickets months ago when it started happening, which were useless. This was after I reinstalled the game twice, ran Memtest86 to check my RAM, bought a new video card, and tried playing on a whole separate machine

I switched the graphics mode down to DirectX 10.0 and the crashes are way less frequent, but still happen for me once in a while.

A while back a hacker gave me full stacks of all tiers of body armor, well above my total carrying limit. I was forced to use up all the low level stuff before I was allowed to buy super heavy armor again.

I did have something funny happen last week. I spun the wheel, hoping to get a car and landed on the mystery square.... and won a car! I now own a normal in game black Invetero(?) Coquette. A car that I have managed to not buy the entire time I’ve been playing lol

Nice, I think I've won two cars from the mystery option, but nothing as good as the coquette. A friend of mine has received a single candy bar, all the way up to a full bunker resupply.

For fast, semi-exciting money, I can't do much better than a couple back-to-back 2-person casino heists. Screw around on voice chat while soloing what prep you can, grab a buddy to help speed up the other prep, split the loot 2 ways. Then do the same with said buddy's heist.

I guess it also helps that I made a fingerprint minigame solver, I think it's based on something somebody made or linked to in this thread, but it's an actual executable.

You don’t need it. Fingerprint game takes 10 seconds after a little practice which is plenty fast to get everything done in the heists. And it isn’t in a cheaty gray area where you have a third party program playing the game for you. The only defense I’ve seen of it is “rockstar can’t detect it” which seems REALLY short sighted. Just scroll up to that reddit post of the mass bans Rockstar did recently. They don’t have to directly detect your executable to see you solve a 10 second mini game instantly every time. And the risk just doesn’t really have any worthwhile reward.

While I agree with your argument on tools like that, it's both much less risk and much less reward than you're thinking. It does not send control inputs to the game, but even then it does save a little time over what it normally takes. But generally speaking it's not worth it. I didn't make it to be a time saver, I'm just programmer-lazy.

Yeah, quite frankly Im a programmer and just wanted to see the code. I have plenty of money and don’t do heists that often

I mean, I'm pretty lazy but if I put it up I'll post a link. The original was in python and I gave up after one of its dependencies required installing visual studio 2017 (and that version specifically).

Now that I own both I think the Oppressor Mk 1 might actually be faster than the Mk 2? The rocket boost seems way stronger and you get more momentum. Of course, you have to aim it and actually dodge obstacles, drive up the mountain/etc instead of flying over it so the Mk2 is still 'easier' because you can just hold down a button and check your phone or whatever.

I'm sure some nerd has worked this out and I'm completely wrong but I'm just going off personal experience here!

MK 1 just boosting down a highway is much faster, and if you can kind of time your hops when offroading to keep the boost coming back as much as possible, but MK 2 probably still wins out in terms of convenience. Mk 1 is a ton of fun though.

Am I missing something? I have to buy an Arcade or Facility to do any heists with Lester? His letter isn't on the map anymore and when I go to the H near his house he calls me to buy a Facility.

There are several flavors of heists. The first (original?) set requires a high end apartment, the doomsday heist requires a facility, and the casino heist requires an arcade.

In my experience, if you know the track and have a good car (doesn't need to be top 5 but it helps), it comes down to making fewer mistakes than everybody else. If you're especially skilled you can make 1-2 more mistakes and catch up, but boy howdy can that be challenging.

Agreed! I'm sure it'd take way more work than anybody would guess, but I'd also like to see a fluorescent paint category that appears brighter than normal under certain lighting conditions.

Yeah, helicopter is nice for speed and if you're aware you won't take too many bullets going that route. I've only done that option once where there wasn't a helicopter on the pad. For my heist group it's mainly a matter of how much effort we want to put in.

I wish they added secondary classes to existing cars. Sure, keep things in sports, sports classic, super, etc. but also can you put a handful of those into a rally class?

Unless I'm explicitly trying to be efficient or feeling especially lazy, I'd probably choose the mk1 over mk2. It's something like 70% as fast and way more entertaining, but requires a lot more attention.

Is the minigun controlled by the driver? If so, I need to actually make use of the thing. It's very easy to drift around if you'd like to impress three friends at low speed, but it's so slooowww. Someone needs to tell R* that American full sized vans have 6.0L V8 gas motors and not some tiny Euro diesel. That bitch should MOVE up until around 85mph, when wind resistance and the creeping realization that the brakes can't keep up do their thing.

I really wish there was a Speedo box truck. Dammit, I wanna drive my work truck around in GTA after driving it all day! The closest I've gotten is in GTA:SA, in which the Vincent looks a lot like the Acura Vigor I had then.

Yeah it is. I don't think any of the vehicle remote miniguns are passenger operated.

At the very least I'd say you should turn down the special effects and post-processing. I turned everything up to max after upgrading my computer only to find that even friendly CEO bombing runs would blur and shake my entire screen if I was anywhere near the explosions.

Yeah in an alternate reality I could see it being a "realistic" thing where you have to shop around between different vendors for specific upgrades, but for this game you have to buy those vendors in the first place :argh:

My crew and I tried the casino heist last night (after what felt like 4 real nights' worth of setup missions) and we could not get into the vault without getting seen. It seemed weird how much the Lester VO made it seem like "this is the easy part just walk right in what are you waiting for GO GO GO" but there were a number of overlapping guard cones and a camera and no silent way to take them out and it seemed harder than it was supposed to be or something. I think we were also on tilt because we tried it a couple times and kept getting caught, restarting at that point puts you all the way back to the start where you have to do the stupid fingerprint hack again after walking through the building and after the last attempt we just all alt+f4'd and said gently caress it we'll try it again another time.

The silent and sneaky one? I'd definitely say it's not the easiest one of the three, full stealth takes some coordination. My normal casino crew has settled on one way of doing it: in and out through the staff lobby, hit the EMP right before the elevator button, and the standard "headshot everybody in the way" rules. The big thing to remember is the cameras will detect bodies, and you get one free camera to destroy if you get unlucky with placement. For the overlapping guards, two of you kinda just need to time the shots. There's also an extra prep mission available if you do the Agatha casino missions that'll let you see the camera's vision cones.

namlosh posted:

I’ve only done the casino heist once and not very well, but if you do it the stealth way, aren’t you supposed to use the stun gun on a couple of the cameras? Shooting all of them will alert, but I think you can get away with a few of them. Maybe it’s the stun from the drone? I can’t remember, sorry

Edit: yeah, stun the metal detector and one camera at a time. You can destroy up to one camera if things just won't work otherwise.

Custom RGB color codes would be nice. New paint types like a real fluorescent paint that's semi-emissive under white/blue light, classic glow in the dark paint colors, or even color shift stuff would be super cool too. One can dream...

Not only is the Mk1 fun but I think its totally unique as a land vehicle that can become a glider? Like there are cars that can rocket boost and hop around a bit but nothing has that specific 'gain a shitload of speed on the ground then zip across half a mountain when hitting the right angle' thing, even the Mk2 has a fixed flight speed that's lower than the Mk1, just easier because it goes in a straight line while you can stare at your phone

The closest I can think of is the ruiner 2000, but that's not really the same thing.

I was going for a elite hard mode casino heist for a while, and there was a stretch of time where at least one of us would disconnect from the session during the escape phase. It was never the same person, bewilderingly.
