I'm dipping back into Legion after trying to get into it, right at a bad time (Pandemic). Working on putting together a Ahsoka/Sabine list and so far have those two, Clan Wren, and two units of Rebel Troopers, but don't know what else to go with at the moment, and am looking for advice.

The good news is Ahsoka/Sabine/Wren is so many points you don't have a lot of options! Gotta include a commander (start with a generic officer, ideally with vigilance) and another corps (naked troopers are fine, fleets also good cheap), and then I'd take two sniper strike teams just to pard yout your SF tokens. You probably want a tenth act, another corps being the best option, then you've got 50 points or ao to play with.

What are some good mixed Ewok/rebel lists that use Chewie's ATST? Last time I researched this it seemed like you had to do an all-Ewok list with bare minimum rebel commanders and just horde at objectives.

I want to do something like this:
https://legionhq.thefifthtrooper.co...,Db,Dm,Cc,Ce,Ca

or switch out a couple ewok squads for another endor rebel troopers list with heavy weapons or upgrades.

Is a list like this viable for tournaments? Would be a shame if you're practically forced to use all Ewoks, from a thematic and interesting gameplay perspective. Horde armies instead of mixed units don't really interest me. Hopefully we get some support flyers or catapults to have more varied options in the future.

But there's lots of marginal changes to make if you like a particular hero or unit. I'm not really sold on any of the rebel trooper weapons except maybe the SX21 here though

You're gonna want Cassian and K-2S0. He's probably the best rebel commander atm, and K2 is quite good as well.

Also, if you're running rebel troopers it's probably worth it to grabbing the trooper upgrade box so you can run 2 units with captains and Daly's

Even if you don't run Ewoks en-masse, a couple boxes of slingers are the cheapest way to pad out activations, and they're reasonably effective if you get'em in close.

Rebel vets with the Mk2 blaster are still a respectable dice pool. Assuming you brought the special weapon and extra soldier, you get 9 black/4 white dice, critical 4 (2 from the CM-0/93, 2 from the Mk2 blaster), and with a linked targeting array on the Mk2 blaster (get an aim token when you get an order, which you hopefully got when your nearby Vets got an order), you’re looking at ~8.33 hits on a fire support shot*. And it only costs 126 points for that setup.

*Used this dice calculator, just ran the numbers for raw hits without accounting for armor saves, cover, armor, etc.

Rebel vets kick rear end even though they die to a stiff breeze. If you've got the budget for it, the Echo Base Defenders box gets you literally more than you'll ever need plus a bunch of other good stuff

Looks good, but a) I'm not a huge fan of LTA on mk2s, since they won't get many orders there, can't use the aim on fire support, and since they're cumbersome they often have time to aim b) captains on naked troopers aren't, like, terrible, but they're very expensive for making an objective padding unit slightly better at objectives c) I'd probably get vigilance on the officer, usually for Sabine

I don’t usually play rebels (generally Republic but veering towards Separatists right now), but having played against them some, Vigilance is absolutely necessary somewhere in a Rebel list. The last Rebel list I built had Leia with a portable scanner and Vigilance, just to maximize those dodge tokens and hold on to them for later (this was a while back, but still). If you never have to roll those white defense dice, they never get the chance to disappoint you!

Oh huh thanks. I guess I’m not too far off, I really like the idea of having a sniper but I guess they are pretty expensive for what you get especially if it’s just one squad plinking away with a single rifle. I hadn’t thought of using the Astro mech droid and I did just buy the specialists squad on sale

I love full commabdos but if you're paying for one unit they should be trying to get to range 3, where sharpshooter and pierce on pretty reliable dice means they're pushing like 3 hits with pierce into heavy cover. They're very vulnerable to crits though

Was sitting at 786, so I popped Tenacity on Ahsoka, Jetpack Rockets on Clan Wren, and Concussions on the Veterans to bring it to 800.

Just put my Magnaguards on the table for the first time a few days ago. These assholes are mean :getin:

They got shot to hell when they barreled into a clone gun line and tried to beat up Cody, but that gave time for Asajj and Maul to get close and start doing their flashlight dances so it wasn’t for naught.

Still playing around with Separatists, and having fun with the magnaguards :)

I’ve been trying double force users recently, with decent-ish results. The next list I’m trying has Kalani, 4x B1s, 2x B2s, 2x magnaguards, and some commando droids to try and pull off some objective thievery. I could swap the commandos and the extra droid in the B1 squads to bring Cad Bane instead, but meat is weak; metal is superior :getin:

Yea they’re outright rude. 2 of them with 2 saber wielders is a monstrous melee threat saturation.

The core of my recent lists has been either a tactical or super tactical droid with 4x B1 squads, for that sweet Direct loop back on to the commander to pull 5 order tokens out of the pool every turn. Throw in Improvised Orders on the commander droid and I’m close to perfect order control before even playing a card.

I finally got my Clones on the table at the Dark Sphere Paploo's Wild Ride event yesterday. Everyone at it was incredibly patient with a complete newbie showing up to play, and I had a good time. I actually won my first game, pretty much entirely due to very slow play I think. Hilight of the event was getting to use Call Me Captain when Rex was in a position to throw his dice into no less than three different fights, including one melee. A full squad of ARCs with Echo and that failed to take down Grievous in one turn, but it was drat close.

I've been eyeing up Legion as the club plays it, how does list building work in this? Are there specific themes you need to follow? Im interested in the shore troopers and maybe doing a Scarif themed army with some death troopers?

There is no theming, bar factions.
Each army (at the standard 800 points) needs

1 commander, and can have up to 2,
0-2 operatives
3-6 Core units
0-3 Special forces units
0-2 Heavy units

Then you build using addon cards - some give new models to units, others special abilities.

Finally, you have to build a command hand, which has 2 each of the 1,2 & 3 pip command cards and a 4 pip standing orders card.

A Director Krennic lead Shore trooper/Death trooper army is totally viable.

There are a few specific theme armies but none for Scarif (yet) and pretty much everything can be taken in normal lists. Krennic and death troopers are mostly kinda mid but definitely playable, and shore troopers are a very good corps option. Cheap too since you only need 2-3 boxes

Flipswitch

Do the Mortar guys count as a troop option? Noticed the card has the detachment rule? My mental idea is something like, Krennec, 2 Shore Troopers, Death Troopers, ATST and then whatever I can add to that? What makes the Deaths mid? We're a very friendly club so rule of flavour will always win out in my choices. :)

Yeah mortars have to be taken at most 1 per shire, but they count as a separate unit and count for min/max.

The tldr is that deaths are kinda inefficient but absolutely playable if you don't care about being cutting edge. They shoot pretty well at range 4 and range 2 (they're fine at range 3 but basically the same as any corps unit), but they need aim or recover support to make it consistent. They have a very good save but no other defense, so any amount of pierce or just plain bad luck is very hard for them. You can mitigate that with medics but that's more points. They're also pretty good with Iden Versio since she's got a command card that supercharges SF for a turn

Number of activations is pretty important, so be aware of how much you're spending per-unit. It might end up being that you have to drop upgrades and pad things with naked Storm Troopers just to get the activation count up.

Bit late to the party here, but Death Troopers are quite good in Imperial Remnant. They get access to cheap heavy weapons and free aim/dodge tokens.

Yeah all the documents are here: https://www.atomicmassgames.com/swlegiondocs/

Shores are generally a good choice for Imperial corps as well

hoiyes
May 17, 2007
Specifically in remnant, Shores with the Storm t-21 are extremely strong. Same with scout squads with a storm T-21. Basically give every squad t21s except Death Troopers, who can use the storm rocket launcher and be effective at range 4 with the rest of the squad using their config.

This is a very efficient baseline remnant force:

797/800 (10 activations)
Commanders:
- Imperial Officer = 50
Corps:
- 2× Scout Troopers (48): T-21 Stormtrooper (22) = 140
- 2× Shoretroopers (52): T-21 Stormtrooper (22) = 148
- Death Troopers (72): HH-12 Stormtrooper (16), E-11D Config (0) = 88
- Stormtroopers = 44
Support:
- 2× Speeder Bikes (70) = 140
Heavy:
- Imperial Dark Troopers (95): XS-IV Assault Cannon (55), Imperial Dark Trooper (32), Programmed Loyalty (5) = 187

Commands: • Ambush, • Covert Observation, •• Pinned Down, •• Push, ••• Assault, ••• Coordinated Fire, •••• Standing Orders

The key to playing it is range control on your officer. She needs to stay within two of your Corp units, and the scouts, deaths and bikes need to stay outside range 2 to get the free aim (or dodge sometimes) from the army rule. The dark troopers always get an aim from army rule or from their upgrade. Use the dark troopers to be scary and take the heat off the scouts and shores who are glass cannons but can really slap. The bikes can do objectives likely bombing run, or flush out strike teams, shoot them armour, or hunt jedi.

So having just opened Yoda after having the pack for ages... why does he come with two order tokens? I presume this is either a weird oversight or they just didn't want to fill space with the usual proof of purchase token.

It was the tank seen in the ambush on Jedha, in Rogue One. That variant seemed to be what you’re describing, but there’s a hover variant out there as well (not in Legion, just in general).
