That's pretty much a good return for the Sens.

Brassard’s competition will be weaker, too, playing on the third line. Pittsburgh’s going to be a beast to play against again, impossible to match lines with that depth.

A pick, a disposable prospect and a pending UFA for crazy depth at center seems like a good deal.

So does Pittsburgh run a Crosby line, Malkin line, and Brassard-Kessel line? gently caress that. Is their defense still mediocre?

He's better than Bonino even. Our center depth is actually better than it was for either of the two cups. Kinda nuts. No guarantees or anything but the Pens are gonna be one tough team to beat like this.

i am the bird posted:Brassard's competition will be weaker, too, playing on the third line. Pittsburgh's going to be a beast to play against again, impossible to match lines with that depth. especially because he's almost guaranteed to play with kessel - malkin and kessel spend a lot of time together because it works really well, but sullivan seems to want to split crosby, malkin, and kessel up as much as he can at even strength i am the bird posted:So does Pittsburgh run a Crosby line, Malkin line, and Brassard-Kessel line? gently caress that. Is their defense still mediocre? honestly it's probably better than it's been for a few years. oleksiak has actually been a pretty good pickup imo, and maatta's still slow but he's improved a lot. it still all basically hinges on letang being healthy and playing like good letang instead of bad letang, but he's been finding his game pretty well recently.

FBS posted:Is Ian Cole any good? he's decent for what he is, pretty much a typical bottom pairing guy who blocks a lot of shots, fairly vanilla outside of that. he's probably the kind of player a lot of GMs love because he's a good locker room guy, won cups, and is willing to get hurt standing in front of flying pucks. i wouldn't be surprised to see some team give him a bad contract this summer

Apparently he's going to the Metro? Maybe the Islanders? The Devils don't really need a LHD, if anything they'd need a RHD to move Lovejoy back to the rafters.

another thing about brassard re: easier competition: he was the Rangers 3rd-line center when they made their cup run in 2014 and was really good with Zucc and Pouliot, especially in the playoffs. he's a natural fit for that role. as was zucc. and as is kessel. they're probably going eat up against weaker matchups even worse than Bonino-Kessel did.
