Snouk but and snouk ben,
I find the smell of an earthly man,
Be he living, or be he dead,
His heart this night shall kitchen my bread.
|My space vampire crisis run is doing very well right now. It's a somewhat disappointing run, though, because the galaxy itself is extremely boring. About half the empires are hive minds that don't really have much interest in engaging diplomatically with the rest of the factions. This is probably also why I'm doing so well, because it's so unlikely that any group of empires will get their poo poo together in time to stop me.

I LOVE Musk and his pro-first-amendment ways. X is the future.
In my current driven assimilators run the horde just got beat by my vassal machine empire in the south, while I've been running rough shod over a variety of smaller empires in the north/north-west and assimilating them back to my core worlds collective. Integrating a RS empire didn't do their pampered pops any favors as they got assimilated into my drones. 35% of the galaxy forming defensive pacts/vassals to protect themselves from me is being effective, but one of them just had a rebellion... And I promptly ate the rebel faction... Which had a ruined mega shipyard floating in space. Over 1k of unity per month and 130k alloys sitting in storage, and I'm halfway done researching mega engineering...

Gonna be time to go on a rampage here soon. Getting close to end game start year though. And with my luck we'll get a war in heaven on year 2401.

I AM THE ONLY ONE IN THIS GAME WHO GETS LAID
When playing DA is it generally better to hoover up all the assimilated pops (minus one) when you take over a planet and drop them back off on your home world/s (or ringworld) to juice them up, or let them all just stay where they are? And why do the assimilated races start off with migration disabled? Wouldn't it be better to let them move about as needed? I love playing DA but am still trying to be better at the early game.

I hoover all of them, ditching the planet (and its empire size) because Id rather have the tech/unity than the pop growth from another planet. As DA I want other empires to be building/growing my pops, not my own planets.

Migration is a setting, I believe.

Okay, I love that they are adding Tall/Wide ascensions.

Frequently, I'll go into a playthrough with a set of traits designed to work for tall or wide, and then circumstances make that difficult. Blocked in by FEs or marauders can force being tall when you want to go wide, but the inverse is almost as bad: finding a dozen amazing systems within a few jumps of your home cluster.

About a year ago I was going to do one of Montu's tall builds, but then sanctuary, trappist, that one new-ish system with ten habitable worlds, and half a dozen other systems with appropriate planets all within my easily claimed space.

Being able to explore and THEN choose (via ascension) is going to make both of those situations a lot less painful.

My version of this is trying to do a gimmick habitat/gaia/tomb origin run and getting inundated with migration requests from highly adaptable species.

Just wondering if anyone has had any luck using the modded achievement enabling patch with the steam deck? The problem I'm running into is that to run the patcher, I'm having to run the patcher itself via Proton; in my limited understanding of Linux / Proton, it's creating its own small virtual machine while running; so this means that when I go to look for the directory for Stellaris to point it at, it can't see it as that's not part of this proton instance.

Sure if you don't mind that -75% job output and massively scaling energy upkeep per pop for each planet you own.

That said if I recall % job modifiers are additive so you could feasibly overwhelm that with enough positive modifiers. The 0.1 energy upkeep per pop per planet seems like it'd pretty rapidly scale to unmanageable levels, though.

That sounds like it's handled by the change to syncretic evolution. Your main, ruler race can be robots and your second race are organics.

Incredibly thoughtful of paradox to make a DLC tailored exactly to my tastes tbh.

I wonder if the per planet penalty on the virtual ascension is including or excluding the homeworld.
In any case, that might be real fun with Ocean Paradise, or a single ring world.

My toxic knight necromancer megacorp started having issues. I was able to fill all my worker jobs with zombies quickly but the specialist ones tended to stay empty for a while.

Then a space fairy cursed my race with sterility because one of my knights wouldn't sleep with her but gave us a bonus to pop construction, so we gave up on necromancy and embraced prosperity gospel instead.

A fact I didn't actually know until after I captured my DA neighbors and suddenly had WAY too many founder pops on planets they didn't want to live on. Thankfully I had just discovered ecological adaptation and terraformed all the planets I had conquered. I have so many loving pops now, the fallen empires of my galaxy have started to get scared.

My first thought was "isn't this just Rogue Servitors?" but if you want to literally have only your ruler be the robot, at least that's something that was doable for a long time, just not from the start: All Democratic and Oligarchic societies can elect/appoint robotic leaders, if you get them from events or, if you're materialistic, from your own robots eventually.

But yeah, if you want to start like this, you need the new machines + organic underlings combo from the new DLC.

Edit:

Ironically, since "Rogue Servitors" are a hivemind, I think they're still closest to what you want. :v:

I wonder if pop upkeep reduction would be useful there as well. And then basically compacting all of your civilization into ringworlds and ecus.

I think they're looking for a computer managed society deal. The Hivemind Node setup for the government but everything else is just regular organics.

That sounds easy to implement tbh?

e: Easy to implement and then many many hours of finding what events break when you don't have any real leaders as an organic.
