Realtalk, robots feel like cheating. My most successful game was playing robii

So thats why there isn't anything to my west.

How screwed would I be if I were to set sectors to auto build? There is so many colonies, I'm a robit, may as well colonize it all. But my god I can't keep track of the current 10 colonies I got, I can't imagine tripling that.

I grabbed megacorp on humble for 20% off, started a game as a cartel. One of my immediate neighbors are rogue servitors, which is nice because as a fanatic materialist all these fanatic spiritualist that make up the rest of my neighbors don't seem to like me much. So I'm currently feeding resources into my robo buddies to help their wars against the religious nutjobs while I build underground party clubs on everyone else's planets.

I can't wait to see how my new game goes wrong. Starter scientist got the +10% anomaly chance, one of my first 3 recruitable scientist also had it. Within 2 jumps of my capital there is 6 planets, 3 of them in one sector, 2 in another. One of them is a gaia planet. in 3 jumps is *another* gaia planet, though its under the watchful eye of some hostile fleets. Also there is only 2 ways into my space, and one of them is held by said hostile fleets.

Mostly default settings, just upped primitive planets and upped the race count cause I've had too many games where I play for like an hour and find no one else to build my corporations on.

E: Oh and one of the southern planets is size 21.

E2: Navigating just past that hostile fleet and there is a sector with a loving size 24 planet

Started a determined exterminator game and my immediate neighbors are driven assimilators. Sounds like the start to a wacky sitcom. They are cool being robots with me but have Thoughts about how I handle organics.

If the thought of being a cartel mega corp interests you, you're gonna want to get a mod that makes enforcers not so silly powerful in reducing crime.

Megacorps rely on other Empires having lots of pops to be effective. That's never a good position to be in.

I do regret getting megacorp, maybe its better in multiplayer but my megacorp runs go 1 of 2 ways:

1: I start as a normal megacorp, end up in universes full of robots, hive minds, other megacorps, purifiers and the remaining aliens just don't want to enter commercial pacts cause of the drat distance modifiers. I end up reforming my government. Then I realize I used an ascension slot on universal trade and I have to decide to stick with large empire sprawl penalties and not do the main gimmick of my authority, or squander the slot and go to something else.

2: I go criminal cause gently caress these people and their distance penalties and wanting an arm and a leg for 1 or 2 buildings on their capital. Then the AI imposes a police state and build 4 precincts on every planet, ensuring my stuff gets shut down in time. I decide to reform my government, and realize I cannot remove criminal syndicate and I have permanently wasted a civic slot.

Its a shame, it sounded interesting on paper.

Speaking of gaia worlds, I started a life seeded game and used droids to colonize other planets. A handful of them were >20 size, so hey not bad at all. Then one of them had an abandoned terraforming project on them. I researched it and it turned the planet into a gaia world. I now have a size 25 and a size 24 gaia planet :tviv:

Note: I was confused by the absence of Paradise Domes. There was a very recent patch change. There is now just one building for bio-trophies. It's all you need since a bio-trophy job now counts for both job and housing.

By paradise dome do you mean organic paradise? There is an upgrade to the organic sanctuary that you start with.

Previously, housing and jobs were separate structures. "Paradise Domes," were upgraded Luxury Housing. Googling turned up nothing but older guides so this was throwing me off until I looked up the patch notes.

P.S. "Paradise Domes," is a much funnier name and they should've kept it. :colbert:

The art for them DO feature a dome, so it is a paradise dome of some sort :v:

Is it just me or are governors just the worst? I'm sure they help a lot with your planets and I don't deny that, I mean that my first one in all of my games always, always gets the arrested development trait within 5 years. I'm not sure what governor levels actually DO, but dammit they could be doing something better if they stopped getting that trait!

South: Me, all devouring swarm

Techarus in the east: Driven Assimilators

West has rogue servitors and determined exterminators

North is a slapdash of various other races who seem to have a robot uprising every now and then. Its gonna be a crazy few years.

Also hive worlds are cool

Sometimes there just isn't any war and no refugees come. So you must go after them. Be a Rogue Servitor, they will live peaceful lives being served upon. One way or the other.

Devouring swarm update: The spiritualist fallen empire has decided to attack my biggest rival, the assimilators who are the only ones who match me both in power and territory. When the FE sent their doomstack out of their space well... I mean... all they had left was space stations. I'll enjoy this size 30 gaia planet, I needed a place to throw conquered pops into since I can't put them in all my hive worlds.

There is an incredible difference in my games where I tried to be tall, either through rogue servitors or life seeded empires. Then I go determined exterminators or devouring swarm and its a whole new game. Even if I restricted myself to just 10 planets (big planets of course), all the resources I get from space snowballs. Spaceballs.

Tiny maps and max civilizations. Trust me, even throwing as many species onto the smallest as possible there is still a chance you wont see another race for a while. It got frustrating in various runs I did where I would want to find other species asap and just have nothing for the longest time.

Mega engineering REALLY needs to show up easier. I remember spending one game where I ended up just cheating to auto complete my current research to get it to pop up. I had that one ascension perk that made wonders construct faster which supposedly up the chances of it appearing, had the research perk which makes rare research options show up, AND I had the cybrex ring world in my sectors and it still took like 20 minutes of cheating for it finally appear.

And of course, when I did my devouring swarm run where I didn't get those perks and had no mega construction in my sectors it just randomly showed up. Its just crazy how little I use mega constructions considering one of the DLC packs I got is all about the mega constructions. And thats just to discover the entry level tech, you still need to research each individual construction as well as use an ascension slot to unlock the right to research the biggest constructions.

You can abduct all but one pop. In my DS run though I regretted using one of my perks for NA, I would just invade then resettle everyone or turn off drone production and let a single hive mind pop eat the other locals.
