I'll be traveling to Tanzania for work in early April. My team has already booked a safari (departing from Arusha), but I was thinking about extending my trip to go to Zanzibar and possibly get my SCUBA certification. I have no prior SCUBA experience, but I really enjoyed snorkeling and I hear that the reefs around Zanzibar are incredible.

Does anyone have any recommendations for places and/or companies? Ideally I'd like to stay nearby the dive shop.

Thanks in advance!

The answer is, mate, because I want to do you slowly. There has to be a bit of sport in this for all of us. In the psychological battle stakes, we are stripped down and ready to go. I want to see those ashen-faced performances; I want more of them. I want to be encouraged. I want to see you squirm.
I'm not a diver so I can't give specific recommendations but from memory everything water-related on Zanzibar is on the eastern coast. I think your best bet will be to stay in the town on the northern tip of the east coast, though I've forgotten the name of it sorry!
