If the base package doesn't include live races, and my formula1.com subscription already gets me telemetry/timing/tires/etc...I'm fine with continuing to watch on my parents' cable login for now. I mean, at least ESPN is commercial free. Besides, for races that don't run during a diurnal person's awake hours, we usually go to the local Tifosi pizza joint and watch the replays over mimosas and Hawaiian slices.

F1TV live streaming is total amateur hour and doesn't work reliably at all. Seems like they went with Tata Consulting to do the live stream instead of a proven live streaming provider like BAMTECH media.

Tata has been doing their network and broadcast infrastructure for a while now, yeah? I was under the impression Tata and F1 were pretty thoroughly tied together behind the scenes already.

Colin Edwards only sat out a race after breaking several ribs because the pain medication made it too hard to hit his braking points.

But yeah, it's not like motorsports doesn't also carry a risk of death. How many of us watch MotoGP and Indycar? How many of us sat at a Hooters with a hangover watching the coverage of Dan Wheldon and Marco Simoncelli's funerals being shown on the same broadcast? (Okay, that was all purely coincidental, but it still happened to me.) I'm sure we all used to brag about how 1994 was the last time we witnessed a fatality in F1 until Jules Bianchi's accident.
