Found out we lost my grandmother this morning. Glad I got to visit her a few weeks ago at least. Mid 90s and bedridden for years and about 65 pounds; so at least not unexpected.

So, the correct response to "here's your raise, it's lower than you expected even though you did great this year because you're near the top of your pay window, no I can't tell you what that is, your only chance of a significant raise is your uninterested boss supporting you in your next 3 annual appraisals to a level you haven't seen in the 10 years you've been with us" is to get the CV up to date, right? What are the chances that VW/Audi would actually try to recertify and resell these diesels? If so, it'd have to be a fire sale price and I would be trying to jump on one or two.

This is also a truism in IT. The only way to get a significant raise is to change jobs, whether it be with another company or a sideways move.

Well, that article says that it basically depends on the EPA approving/recertifying emissions modifications, so who knows. I guess if they remove the emissions defeat code and prove that they've done so, there shouldn't be a reason they can resell them. They may just have to part them, or export them to somewhere that doesn't give a poo poo.

The 2015s were able to be certified to be sold with some sort of undisclosed fix, so it may be possible. They're sitting around the same price as a similarly equipped gas model, so not quite fire sale price but the diesel premium is certainly gone.

Somebody linked how expensive it would be per car to do the fix a while back and it was pretty nuts. I expect they'll render them inoperative (all cash for clunkers) and junk them.

I, just, like, don't want to do the dishes by hand anymore. I'm sitting here wondering if I can survive until then without doing them. I hate manually washing dishes - it reminds me of a specific time growing up that I'd rather forget.

Actually, since I'm doing tips, as posted in Bajaha's thread:

Metal Geir Skogul posted:

On ebay, adding "-bs" to your search removes all of the "suggested" results. Anything that they THINK matches any search parameter.

If you search for "countertop dishwasher white" you'll get results where the title is "INNOVA DISH WASHER" and "Color: White" is part of the description. If you search "countertop dishwasher white -bs" the title HAS TO HAVE all of those words, exactly. It won't give you results for "counter top" or "dish washer" or anything without the word "white" in it.

This also removes all "fits: <whatever car make and year their search algorithm thinks you're searching for>" results. Essentially, "-bs" makes it a true title-only search with no tomfoolery.

Been a trick since like 2003, and it's good.
