I've gotta say, Matt has been using the party's need for rests incredibly effectively the past several episodes, both as a way to add tension and to help with the difficulty in challenging a party of seven (nein).

It just seemed like a funny, lighthearted moment, and certainly doesn't feel like it'd warrant a text instead of a more direct IC reaction from Essek.

I don't know who these new people are so I don't particularly care about them, but as a sufferer of eternal GM syndrome, I'm glad that Matt will get to play!
