Sometimes the Tx and Rx have to be reversed at one of the cable ends because the manufacturers can't keep their poo poo straight.  I guess that's more of a rant on cables than connectors. all usb is bad and type c is actually the worst because of all the dump poo poo you can do with it and have it competely fry everything connected in any way. it owns that they never considered that some non nerd would hook a cable into the port that it fits into without reading 10 pages of errata about what can and cannot accept power the only good connector is lightning
