If you’re Caruana, what the heck do you do? You’ve got black and lose all the tiebreakers, but hold a half point lead. Will Grischuk just want a quick draw and go home or will he feel obliged to fight you? At least the guys in second know they need to win.

Caruana does have the advantage in that if he decides he wants a draw Grischuk probably won’t insist on fighting. I wonder what mood Kramnik will be in; he’s been playing oddly.

He may very well, but that gives Grischuk the option of forcing a draw, which I assume he would. I’m a little surprised they don’t play out the tiebreakers.

This tournament deserves a book like they did in the old days. I was afraid it’d be conservative draw after draw, but they went after each other.
