The show has consistently improved on characters so I have faith that they'll do things way better. Book Marco is fine, his entire success is built off using Naomi's ship boom code. Then he's uplifted by Duarte and supplied with resources both organizational and material. He's a fraud and always was. That's fine, they don't need to change it. Not every book villain is horribly written.
