I wish they let the Miz/Reigns feud go on longer

Imagine letting the Miz off his leash to talk about someone like Reigns claiming they work hard for where they are and are the underdog

I swear to christ the only wrestling storyline more played out than a michaels/jannety split is rogue babyface vs heel authority

I miss when authority figures were rarely seen old guys in suits who came out to establish punishments to the heels after they did something really bad by making em fight the face

Even Teddy "Tag Team" Long was a breath of fresh air

EDIT: In summary, I miss Jack Tunney

FullMetalJackoff posted:

As we're all aware, abandoning the signature stage sets on PPVs and eliminating pyro were both done as cost cutting measures and to cover the cost of the HD entrance / set. Yet by doing so, it makes the product look cheap, bland and generic to both the hardcore fanbase and the satellite fan / casuals clicking past with attitude era rose-tinted glasses. Why should the average fair-weather wrestling fan give a poo poo (or ten bucks per month for a network sub) enough to invest their time watching the oversaturated weekly dosage of WWE programming, when it all looks (from an initial perception) like the same one hour recycled umpteen times but with a quick change of apron decal/rope colour and lighting filter?

Edit: But what do I know. I still think the shows looked infinitely better with the lights darkened over the crowd, instead of lighting up the arena like Christmas tree for everyone at home to see the tarped over rows of empty chairs.

I sincerely disagree that big gimmicky sets make the product look better

All the best drawing periods of wrestling have had minimal changes to sets. Big gimmicky sets is the definition of style without substance and does very little to improve the product to anyone watching

Honestly I think the consistent design looks significantly better from show to show as a casual viewer

Hell, getting rid of pyro has even improved the entrances. The post-pyro era has had way more unique and interesting entrances than the era of god pyro Edge and Batista

It's fun to imagine happening in the main event of Wrestlemania, but the WMXX debacle was because Brock took WWE to court over the contract having such language as "can never work anywhere else in the entire world."
