I don’t much work at work and clicking down the YouTube hole, I came across Creep Catchers – A movement where people pretend to be young boys/girls, set up meetings with older men and then bust them while filming them and asking wtf they are doing. The people then play dumb, and then get all of their sexually explicit chat logs shown to them. Some run off, some get aggressive, some try to talk their way out of it. There are dozens of these and it’s pretty depressing to think how much this goes on, but good to see a few of them get outed/arrested. Something something Aatrek. Pretty sure I saw a documentary about this stuff a while back. Apparently some of the people involved are not the coolest of folks, and their activities have hindered actual police investigations.

There's a group here in the UK that call themselves the 'Internet Interceptors' or something equally lame who devote their time to engaging with people trying to groom children and then meeting up with them for a public shaming.

It's not entrapment, but vigilantism is bad regardless. These people help no-one, cause criminals to go into hiding, hinder actual police work, and always seem to be uneducated chavs looking for an excuse to look hard in front of their friends.
