I've had one game where some guy was getting mad at my wife during an egg hunt because she had the audacity to call the mule over as he was trying to dump an egg in. Without mentioning what he was doing and we were all spread out. But that was just one game, so 99% of the time random people have been fine.

How is the community? Is it easy to get started or are you a piece of poo poo pubby for weeks,?

The only real thing that will get people mad at you is if you just push the button to call the drop pod as soon as you can. Their are times when you still have a secondary objective to complete or one more room for minerals to look at. So just ask if people are ready when you feel it may be a stopping point, or someone will go and push the button themselves.

A good use for Driller is to just drill a straight line to the escape pod, usually this is faster than following the mule and can avoid a lot of bugs. I don't think the larger ones can even fit in a driller sized hole. Depending on the cave layout you might unintentionally drill out at the top of a very large drop, but as long as you pay a little bit of attention you can get around these things easily.

The community is good imo. Nothing like buying a few drinks for your new friends pre-mission.

Preatorians can fit in driller holes, always a fun surprise when they emerge from the swarm your gunning down.

Where the drop pod lands is more dependent on map length I think, because a Mission Length 3 usually has it around the midpoint in my experience. But the overall intention seems to target the pod at around 100-150m away pretty consistently.

Actually, now I wonder if it's also dependent on the Hazard Level as well. Maybe higher difficulties have longer escape runs by design.

It's supposed to be designed so that wherever it lands you can make it to the pod within 5 minutes. So a complex 1 map is usually the start point since you can make a quick sprint to it, while on a 3 it's closer to the center. This does lead to some drop pods that will spawn about 60 meters away just because it didn't generate a good layout for a side room in point extraction. Or in mid air

So, where's the best place to link up with you other goons and play some coop? Also, is there a recommended beginer's guide for each class or something? I find i run out of ammo way too quickly and seem to be very squishy in the first few missions.

Remember that enemies have weak points and try not to shoot where the armor is unless you have armor breaker on the weapon, if your doing haz 2 then two or three shots with most weapons for a warrior should be what you need in their weak spot. Add in a few more shots for veterans and difficulty level. The exploders weak point is the head, if you shoot it their before the animation starts it won't explode. As others have said keep an eye out for nitra you should find enough for at least 2 supply drops.

We'll see what pops up after this road map and if anything they had left will be added. It also states update 21 is scheduled for February 6th and the anniversary update will be out on the 28th.

Does the flamethrower's hit detection just suck? It feels like it kills things super fast sometimes and just never touches them other times.

I feel like the flamethrower should be tweaked a bit more like the cryo cannon hit box wise. Sometimes I'm aiming at the ground in front of a bug and it just runs through my flames and the ground ignites shortly ahead of where I'm aiming. While the cryo cannon I just point and spray and will catch the bugs and ground in ice almost instantly.

3 dwarf levels (any class) =1 player rank. You can tell how close you are to a rank up by seeing what part of the perimeter of the gem is light blue and dark blue.

I brought up the Bulk exploder specifically because since I started playing H4 exclusively I've had it happen multiple times now that one or more Bulkies spawn as part of the "escape" waves, literally inches from the drop pod. By the time you register "hey is than an explo-" the entire group is ded. Had one dig through the floor and immediately down everyone too. We could hear him loudly tunneling from somewhere but couldn't find out where. Until the last boom broke through a wall and immediately downed us .

I had a game today where me and the gunner got into the pod when a detonator showed up right outside the tiny tunnel leading to the pod, downed two guys on the ramp and activated my iron will. The doors closed before I even had a chance to revive them but at least two of us made it. The worst part is this wouldn't have happened if I didn't get stuck on geometry under the ramp and got in their 30 seconds faster

If you can run haz4 without white knuckles the EDD's should be easy except for the last level. They have some quarks that will be challenging but if you put some effort into not making the same mistakes you'll be fine. A perfect example was the current EDD, me and my friend wiped 3 times on the 2nd mission because the last room is a spawn trap that would just send endless waves from all directions. We finished it by putting our back to a wall and slowly gathering the resources without sitting in the middle of a room.

We accept account lv30+ guys on the EDD all the time so in the end don't be afraid to try it and fail because you just might win and you'll get some cores for doing so.

To add to this, if you feel comfortable with the mechanics and the various class roles give it a shot. I completed the EDD this week with an 25 engineer who played better than the 48 driller.

I only play with friends and I could see how it would be like pulling teeth with stupid pubbies.

Really depends, I usually play with randoms and when I did the deep dive this week someone thought it would be a good idea to pop the dreadnought before telling anyone, then some of them would stop attacking it to mine gold because ????. We still finished it and the 3rd stage went smoothly. But I've also played with people who are blue level 15 that play their classes better than someone 100+ so you know, it varies.

If anyone wants to exploit that ""grind for two minutes" achievement, you can play solo and hit escape to pause the game while on a rail, unpause after 2 minutes and you will get it. It will be fixed in the hot-fix coming tomorrow.

Not a lot of use if the main reason you go down is falling into a massive pit. Great, I can walk around the bottom of the pit but then go down and still need to wait for teammates to revive me anyway? Is there some advantage I'm not understanding here?

If the entire team gets wiped you get a 10 second countdown to use iron will. You have enough time to revive 1 dwarf and possibly get to live again after using vampire or getting red sugar. I've had it save runs during hazard 4/5. If you tend to stick to low hazards I would switch it out for something else.

Don't wait to use the shield for when someone is down. If you see a huge horde of mactera spawn/Trijaw descending on you with nowhere to go throw one in the middle of the group when they get close, if a re-supply is called and everyone needs ammo in the middle of a wave throw one on the pod.

Don't horde class items, Shield, grapple gun, zip lines, platforms, drills, flares use them. You get some back on resupply. Same with grenades, you get half your grenades back on resupply so throw a few out.

The primary reason I like playing engineer is so there is not urinal cake deathtraps everywhere. loving bunkers

Played a salvage the other day where the engineer dug the uplink down and made a hole himself, then covered it with platforms and made an exit, the scout broke it open before we started because we knew it was a deathtrap. Of course two things spawned when we started, an oppressor and a bulk.

On the other hand I was doing the DD last night and the fuel cell spawned in a real good spot on stage 3. Then the driller dropped a bunch of satchels and made a death hole. He got kicked by the host after that and the three of us got lucky with spawns to finish the dive. But that could have gone real bad if an oppressor or bulk decided to show up.

Like at Haz 4 you don't even need a grand strategy to defend. Maybe you drill some more space to have a larger defensible area within objective bubble, but anything else is overkill. Haz 5? I don't play Haz 5 as much anymore (:effort:), but even then you don't see that much cheese. At mean if they're going to cheese, drill a bunker and seal it. This monstrosity that the engineer made doesn't work since it's too sealed to affect pathing (Assuming they have the urinal cake bug repellant upgrade)... I just... :psyduck: :psyduck: :psyduck:

Also I saw the sealed bunker thing work recently. I thought before GSG spawned oppressors or bulks if they detected sealed bunkers back when bunkering was popular, but I didn't see that happen. Still not worth the effort.

Last night we had a hack pod event, the driller drilled it down, the engineer covered most of the pod with platforms then put up about 16 platforms on the overhang where the pod landed, this was on hazard 3. Even after all that work it still got hit and we had to restart it.

When escort was first rolled out chunks gave a ridiculous amount of oil, there was no point in using the laser when you can just use a satchel then hoover up all the chunks in 3 seconds and have a full canister. Then they made it so that some of the oil is destroyed when you blow it up so chunks give less.
