lol I just asked if people mind spoilering, not to stop, but ok werk.

I figured it would continue into this thread anyway, just feelin' my weird sad oats.

I think people should just use spoiler tags. I've watched the first two episodes, but it's not easily watchable, and people in the last thread were pretty loose with spoilers. It's not like the thread for The Expanse where people flipped out on the idea that the proper use of spoiler tags were spoiler enough. If people want to talk about how hot Pangina is, then go ahead and talk about it. But talking about boots and looks, throw some tags on it.

Raere posted:

Is Eureka gonna be just as annoying as she was before?

I think that she's just an incredibly basic small town queen who had some minor beef with Trinity Taylor that was played up by the producers. Had she not been injured, I don't think she would have been invited back for a subsequent season. She would have been booted out by Snatch Game at the latest. I suspect she will be like Cynthia Lee Fontaine who will come back and prove to be not all that exciting on a second try.

Something I noticed in the previous thread is that some people seem to really have a fixation in picking queens to hate. It's weird to me because it's so outside the spirit of the real life drag scene. I can't tell if it's just the effect reality shows have on people or if it's straight fans trying to larp a stereotype of a bitchy gay person, but either way it skeeves me out. Drag is love.

I get the impression that this thread is mostly queer, unlike the subreddit which is probably 95% straight white women. I've never gotten the vitriol that Thorgy gets. You said in a lower post that she is clearly ruled by her anxiety. I think she's a talented, intelligent queen whose anxiety and dreads get in her way.

Oh my god, you missed the whole cultural obsession with it like a month ago.

Yes, it's new. Yes, it's incredible. It's superior to the original series in every way. The new guys are all wonderful. You will probably fall in love with Antoni like the rest of the world has. You will also question his actual cooking skills like the rest of the world has. Jonathan, of Emmy nominated (seriously) Gay of Thrones, is absolutely hilarious. You will probably cry at least once most episodes. It will fill you with joy, and you will probably rewatch it again right after you're done.

Yeah, after All Stars 3, I was kind of dreading a new season again so soon. But, this episode has been an absolute delight so far. The queens' looks are all super polished, they all have such big personalities, and seeing all of my old favorites was a lot of fun. I missed the first minute or so of the mini challenge, so I'm worried I might have missed a couple. Did everyone get a chance to speak?

Edit: gently caress yes! Drag on a dime!

Ok, so this is something I've always been a little confused about. If the episode is currently airing, or has aired, we should be able to post without using spoiler tags, right? Most people don't, but then there are a few that do. I know when I can't watch it live, I stay away from the thread. I know earlier I requested that people watching Drag Race Thailand use spoilers, I'm not terribly invested in the idea of spoiler tags with it, but it's currently only airing in one country, so it's a little hard for the rest of us to catch up.

If the majority of people think we should use spoiler tags for episodes currently airing or have aired, then I'm happy to comply. But they've been applied inconsistently here.

That's fair. Can we do like a poll or something? I know that different threads are different. I was dragged to filth in the thread for The Expanse, even though I was making appropriate use of spoiler tags, people were getting angry because the mere presence of spoilers tags from the books made people really angry.

Also, I am really curious to know if Christina is angry that she didn't get the same kind of treatment that Gaga got last season.

Also it just really hit me that people who are 21 now were literally preteens when Drag Race first started airing. They've spent their whole coming-of-age period in a world where you could turn on a TV (or more likely fire up bittorrent) and see this show. My guess is that we're going to have more and more amazing young queens over the next few years who've been polishing their drag and their act since they were literal kids. That's amazing.

Something similar is happening with Survivor, which is currently in its 36th season (they do two a year). It first aired 17 years ago, and this season they've had two people who have been watching the show their entire lives.

It used to be that I'd go in there and always see someone I knew. Now it's just straight women getting belligerently drunk, dancing and bumping into everyone around them (it's not a dance club), singing along to the music loudly and poorly, and either groping gay men or asking gay men to grope them.

how bad is drag u? i need to satiate my fix in between episodes of s10 and i'm almost caught up on DRT (also already watched all of dragula ofc)

It's fun seeing the queens interact, but the show is pretty bad. What we need is a late night round table show starring the queens, maybe have a couple of them be semi-permanent co-hosts, with a rotating cast of regular guest co-hosts, and a spot for a celebrity.

Julie Goldman was made over on an episode of Drag U, and she spilled all the behind the scenes tea on a long since deleted episode of Gay Pimpin' with Jonny McGovern. Basically, the whole experience was hellacious for her. They had absolutely no say on their looks, everything was already decided before they got there. When they weren't filming, she was basically locked in a small room with just a metal folding chair, and no food or water. She hated the whole experience, and World of Wonder threatened to sue her rear end for speaking about it, so the episode was deleted.

Yeah, there is this real thing in society where if someone says passive aggressive to us, we're expected to only reply in passive aggressiveness, or not at all. So people like Aquaria get used to getting away with a lot of bullshit, because if someone responds with any sort of escalation, then they look like a crazy person because what they did can be so easily dismissed or denied.

While I think Vixen is taking it over the top, she is just so loving right about everything she is saying that she has completely shut Aquaria down, something that has probably never been done before.

At the risk of being a shady bitch, if you're working at an Amazon warehouse during the daytime your drag career is probably... not so hot.

Yeah, apparently none of the other queens will work with her because she is just as hostile to everyone as she was on season 2, and apparently even more so with these death threats. It's a matter of owning up to your own behavior and working on changing yourself. It's been close to a decade and she still acts this way.

This all apparently started with a tweet that PhiPhi made last September saying that Raven was robbed of the crown in season 2 (which of course she was, and it's not the first time that this has been said). But it all blew up, culminating into what we have here.

Even PhiPhi has had a major career turnaround (arguably). She was having trouble getting booked because she was mean to the other queens, and was rude and messy when doing club appearances. I remember after season 3, she was hired to perform at Cobalt here in DC, and agreed to do a meet and greet. There was a big local gay uproar because she showed up late, stayed backstage getting drunk with her entourage until it was time to perform, and left immediately.

Her reputation got to the point where it was getting in the way of having a career, so she faced her problems and reinvented herself.

I still don't like PhiPhi, but Tyra could really take some lessons from her.

Take their tagline "This is Throwing Shade, where we take a weekly look at all the issues important to ladies & gays, and treat them with much less respect than they deserve." I like the show, but Bryan and Erin are frequently woefully uninformed on the issues they talk about, and fall for "fake news" like the above pretty regularly.

Just catching the episode now, some stray thoughts:

- I loved all the time in the workroom. This is the kind of stuff that the show has been missing for far too long.

- That said, that was 30 looks. It was difficult to keep track of everything.

- With all the plastic surgery that Kameron has had to her face, while very attractive out of drag, the result is that she looks like the spitting image of Chad Michaels while in drag. It's surprising that Chad isn't her drag mother.

- I really want to dislike The Vixen, but I find it difficult.

- I thought Blair was top 3 for sure, and Kameron was merely safe.

- It really was neck and neck between Miz Cracker and Aquaria for me for that win, and I would have been happy with either one of them. Maybe Ru should have given it to both of them.

- I really want live in Dusty Ray's bottom. He is so cute. But that lip sync was a little manic and crazy eyed.
