Paige watching what appears to be a Russian sitcom

Eh, close enough.

I want to believe the showrunners chose that because it sort of was a vehicle for the Soviet Union to show off how far it had come to Americans, but more likely they just picked something recognizablenevermind, having watched through the scene, they did choose it for the right reason. Claudia totally plays up the "yes, everything is as perfect in the USSR as is shown in the film" angle.

They should have gone with the comedy option and shown Paige Little Vera instead.

Man the Soviets are really proud about using 1/7 of their population to turn back the eastern front.

Without getting into the whole mess of how Soviet/Russian narratives of WW2 differ from American ones and why, Claudia and Elizabeth's recollections of it to Paige are pretty spot on "Russians introducing Americans to their version".

This is a period piece; Claudia isn't realistically going to assign Svetlana Alexeivich as light reading material.

A family walks into a talent agency. It's a father, mother, son, daughter and an assortment of friends. The father says to the talent agent, "We have a really amazing act. You should represent us." The agent says, "Sorry, I don't represent family acts. They're a little too cute." The mother says, "Sir, if you just see our act, we know you would want to represent us." The agent says, "OK. OK. I'll take a look."

At this, the mom and dad call in one of the women accompanying them. The two of them kill her in front of the agent and then stuff her body in a suitcase. They call in another friend, whom they kill, then chop off his head and hands. As they do all this, the father calls in a 17 year old and another woman his age, both of whom he fucks in front of the agent at the same time. Meanwhile, the daughter calls in a priest and converts to Christianity right in front of their eyes. As all this is happening, the son takes a photo of the agent's wife from his desk and starts masturbating all over it. Frustrated, the agent himself gets in on the act and starts chasing them around the room until they all stop.

For the longest time, the agent just sits in silence. Finally, he manages, "That's a hell of an act. What do you call it?"

And the father says, "The Americans!"

Stan never does figure out who the illegals are. The last scene is him showing up with a 6-pack and helping Philip and Henry bond over a game of Strat-o-Matic.

Lol if that wasn't some contrived McDonald's product placement.

That aside, loving drat good compact, succinct ending. As much as parts of me wanted some grandiose montage tracking the characters watching the collapse of the Soviet Union, solumn, subdued closure, or lack thereof, is a better sendoff given the overall driving force of the show. To hell with scenes with Keri Russell popping veins in pent up rage; that look of shock as the train is leaving the platform blows them out of the water.

Side note:
Although it was trite as hell and probably lost on half the audience, I loved the ending shot from Vorobevy Gory. If you haven't been, it's the de facto standard scenic touristy overlook of the Moscow skyline. Phillip and Elizabeth are standing at the point below/south of the river in this shot. The angle shown distorts the difference in elevation and distance between it and the riverbank/Luzhniki Stadium, but whatever, it's a beautiful place:
