I think it looks fun. It's probably cool to direct something that your dad started. But yeah I eyerolled at a lot of it, namely revealing the Ecto-1 like it's the Millennium Falcon. The very, very clear Walmart branding was probably the worst part.

I'll be in the camp that I didn't know how big it was (the experience in theaters) until fairly recently either, specifically because I was 8 and cared about the new Star Wars much more. I did become obsessed with seeing the sequels though because 12 year olds in 2003 loved nu-metal and boy does The Matrix Reloaded have some in it. that new RE looks like poo poo. All these reboots have an easy layup to try to just do RE4 and hell, 7 or Village, and instead opt for the same late 90s complete mess which doesn't remotely hold up and will look like poo poo no matter how "loyal" it is to the source material.
