Mondo Macabro put up their preorder for the limited edition of Who Can Kill a Child?

http://mondomacabro.bigcartel.com/product/who-can-kill-a-child-red-case-limited-edition-blu-ray

1000 copies total, so don't sleep on these preorders, they sell out fast. I have every red case limited edition release aside from Suddenly in the Dark, which went pretty quick and I had to stick with the retail edition.

Pets is great, but it's wildly offensive and definitely not for everyone. I bought that plus Deadly Daphne's Revenge (more Troma is always good, please release a Blu-ray for Girls School Screamers) and the Blood Beat slipcover edition. I'm sure I'll do another order before the end of the weekend.

If you're unsure of Deadly Daphne's Revenge, give this review a look:

I placed one more order, grabbed the slipcover edition of My Chauffeur and Evils of the Night, plus the standard edition of Ice Cream Man for my buddy. No more purchases this weekend for me.

Severin Films has the limited edition of Combat Shock available.

https://severin-films.com/shop/combat-shock-blu-ray-package/

However, good luck getting your order through, since they have one of the slowest websites I've encountered in a long time. I finally got mine in after periodically refreshing their website for the last two hours. Same issue I had back on Black Friday with their Jack the Ripper release.

COMBAT is a code to get 50% off of anything minus Combat Shock or any of their 2018 releases. And even though Screwballs and Loose Screws came out like two years ago, they consider the bundle a 2018 release, so the code doesn't work on that.

I have all four. The horror / exploitation discs are all good grimy 42nd street trash. I already had some of the DVDs for titles like The Cut-Throats, which is a movie I really enjoyed, so I didn't even think twice upgrading. The porn discs... depends on if you dig vintage adult movies. I'm old enough to remember watching Ribald Tales of Canterbury on VHS on a 6-hour SLP tape, so the jump in quality was massive. Kind of surprised that the first two sets are still available. I figured that they would've sold out within a couple of weeks.

I have that Eyeball disc already, it's $19.99 at Diabolik, and is amazing and essential. Also the disc is also really heavy, feels like an Arrow or maybe Criterion release. It's region free, if I recall correctly. I'm pretty sure I didn't have to switch my region to watch it.

I'm still in awe that Bat Pussy is on Blu-ray. I remember getting it when I traded dubbed VHS tapes with people decades ago.

Back in the AV Maniacs days, someone there sent me Bat Pussy stickers, Bat Pussy magnets and a Bat Pussy mask, which has been worn by myself, my wife and our cat.

Nothing tops the guy at the blu-ray.com forums that was posting about the supposed black crush on some of the recent Sony discs, so he tracked down the phone number for cinematographer of one of the movies and called him to complain.

Another thing I like about that place are the people who put their entire home theater setup in their signature and you see someone with a $4000 90" 4K set, then you check out their collection and it's nothing but the Transformers and Pitch Perfect movies. There's a guy that has popped up in a lot of the threads I read there recently, and his signature has something like five different TVs, but only one player, so I imagine that he's like David Bowie in The Man Who Fell to Earth, just watching a different movie on a wall of televisions simultaneously. It's a somewhat useful place for information and a lot of insiders and label guys post there frequently, but I'd say maybe 80% of the people who regularly post have weaponized autism and I am frightened of them.

I have two questions about UHD that I cannot get a clear answer on: the Target Black Friday ad leaked, and it has a Sony UHD player for $150. My receiver is a Sony STR DH750... this will work with that player without any issues, right? I have another one of these receivers in our bedroom, but the TV in there isn't 4K. If I bought a second UHD player for that room, will it work on the regular 1080p TV, or does it have to be 4K? If my receiver can do 4K without issue, and I can play the discs regardless what type of TV I have, then I'll make the UHD jump. Otherwise, I'll just stay with Blu-ray for now. Any help would be appreciated.

Nice! This is a pretty decent giallo. I have the Shameless release already that came out awhile ago, but will definitely grab the Severin set as well. All the Colors of the Dark is the best movie about a woman who attempts to cure trauma suffered from a car accident by visiting a satanic cult, drinking dogs blood and participating in group sex.

It's more like A Lizard in a Woman's Skin or maybe Spasmo, very dreamy and strange. It's a very good non-traditional giallo.

Yeah, Vinegar Syndrome's website is pretty much impossible to access. I'll try later. Surprisingly, Severin's site, which normally feels like you're using a 56K modem when you're on it, worked nice and fast, and I was able to get the entire Black Friday bundle without any issues.

The Scream Factory steelbooks use the same transfers as their old discs. The new sets that Studio Canal put out have new transfers that look far better than what Scream Factory released. I have The Fog and They Live, both look stunning. I only checked out a little bit of They Live, but watched the entirety of The Fog, and it's absolutely beautiful. I have the new Studio Canal releases for Escape from New York and Prince of Darkness coming from Amazon UK, cannot wait. Region B, so you need a modified player if you're in America. These are the definitive releases for these films.

Someone posted a link to Techmoan's youtube channel a few months ago and now I'm addicted to his videos. Old electronics are my jam, and I enjoy watching him take things apart and fix what's wrong, show off some crazy old video format, or just show me some weird vertical turntable that I will never be able to justify purchasing. Are there any channels similar to this?

If you go into your orders, there's an option to return the item and it asks if you want a new one sent or the money refunded. The chat feature is horrible and everyone you talk to is usually a huge dick and you get responses like the one you received. Emailing them always gets a better result in my experience. Just email Amazon (search email Amazon, it gives you a link where you choose the order you're having a problem with), tell them that their chat response is completely unacceptable (which it is) and they will send you a new set and will either give you a link to a postage label to send the item back, or they'll tell you to throw it away.

Because I like butts, I bought all the Tinto Brass titles on the sale.

The Outsiders: The Complete Novel isn't as good as the theatrical cut because the courtroom scenes are awful, Coppola took out the lake sequence for zero reason, and I prefer the orchestra score to the 60s songs. This might be because I watched the theatrical cut so many times growing up and I find the changes jarring. I wish both versions were on my Blu-ray. Halloween 6 has hands down the worst alternate cut. Michael Myers being stopped by a bunch of magic rocks... atrocious. The movie is garbage either way, but at least the one I saw in theaters was entertaining. Also, and many will probably disagree, but the theatrical cut for Army of Darkness is much better than the Raimi cut.

Arrow sucked me in again and I picked up five of their noir-ish titles from their sale: Too Late for Tears, Woman on the Run, The Big Knife, The Blue Dahlia and The Glass Key. Just a little over $57 shipped to the US. I might place one more and concentrate on the 80s titles that I'm missing, like Heathers and Last American Virgin. They also announced a bunch of new titles for release next year, including a box set of the Japanese Ring movies, Phantom Lady and Sister Street Fighter. Love Arrow.

Severin takes a long time to ship, but I'm pretty sure it's just one dude fulfilling the orders, and they get pummeled with orders during sales, so I'm usually willing to wait. They're much better than Scream Factory. I ordered Night of the Creeps in February, it's now almost a month late from its original release date. And I know that, like nearly every Scream Factory title, there will be something hosed up with the disc (bad audio, wrong aspect ratio for the first part of the movie, like Carpenter's Village of the Damned), or the Tom Atkins figure (main reason I bought it, the old disc was fine) will come broken. Sorry to rant, I know this is an Arby's drive-thru, I'm just tired of waiting for Scream Factory to get their poo poo together.

There are a bunch of titles not on Blu yet that I want, like Unmasked part 25, Axe 'em, They Call Me Macho Woman, Unhinged, Prom Night 2, The Kiss... most of the Emmanuelle movies with Laura Gemser are MIA at the moment. I'd guess that Severin will eventually put those out. Other top titles are missing still. Looking for Mr. Goodbar. Rights issues, I assume? The Devils needs a Blu big time. I think if Warner Bros is really that freaked out to release it they should pass it off to a smaller label.

It's also super weird that there aren't any Fred Astaire / Ginger Rogers movies on Blu, minus Swing Time. HD prints show up on TCM all the time. What's up with that?
