I just got it on iTunes because I assumed they had the rights to the extended cut and it’d never see a physical release

I used to think that slipcovers meant the copy was from a first pressing, but I just got Blu that isn’t on its first pressing (I assume) [The Cat Returns] with a slipcover.

Is that when it’s blocky looking during fast action?

Recently I’ve been watching some Disney DVDs using a BR player and a 4K non-HDR tv and all the character movements become a series of pixelated lines or blocks. It’s annoying and making me consider upgrading.

What is wrong with the Disney versions of Ghibli titles?

Are people just pissed that the Fanning sisters got to play leads in Totoro?

I have all Disney Ghibli on my shelf except one GKids edition (The Cat Returns) and it’s making my OCD short circuit

On quite a few of the titles, the subtitle tracks are actually dubtitles and don't reflect the Japanese dialog.

The dubs are all the same between the two, the picture quality might be a hair better on the GKids issues.

I know Princess Mononoke was one of the ones with dubtitles.

So it only affects the subtitle tracks?

Although the first time I watched it was one of my earlier BD experiences (late adopter) and I thought I was losing my mind. Like, “drat, HD makes those colors pop. How have I never noticed this?” crazy

I convinced people with only DVD players to buy Blu/DVD combo packs all the time, especially when they were cheaper.

It’s the same reason I have now convinced myself to buy 4K discs. It’ll be worth it in the long run, especially if it’s only a few dollars.

I don’t think that’ll happen friend. The Disney pipeline has ensured that failson children who loved Disney movies in the nineties force it upon their kids today.
