Looks like we get a new villain in the Chaotix special with a cool Egyptian themed jackal design. Hope we see more of them since we're so short on interesting antagonists right now. I also enjoyed the flashback pages all being done in different styles. Really liked this one.

I agree I thought it was cute and the villian was cool. I binged these a couple weeks ago and really enjoy the series, and will especially kill for more Tangle who is my favourite. Also I went in thinking "Hehe cute funny sonic comics with some fun character interactions and dialogue and the new OCs seem nice" and was so entirely unprepaped for how hard the Metal Virus arc went jesus christ Her Dryer fucked around with this message at 18:49 on Oct 23, 2025 |

I like that for a change the Chaotix appear actually competent. Or like, secretly competent. It seems like usually they just get played for laughs, which I get, because they're good at it, but it's nice to see that occasionally they can do stuff besides just kinda fall into Sonic's plot.

Chaotix have been played for cheap comic relief, or at least something vaguely shaped like comic relief, for a bit too long that it can be easy to forget they can actually accomplish things. Mainly through being stubborn enough that they'll keep grinding away at a case until something gives. The Columbo riff is also fitting given his whole deal is looking like a bumbling schlub until he goes 'Just one more thing...'

Didn't they just add a completely different jewel thief elsewhere, in addition to Rogue the Bat already existing? It seems weird they've overloaded that specific archetype.

They seemed to be gearing up for some sort of twist with that other one though since the thief didn't seem to remember doing it. Megani/Enigma definitely seems to be more the Rouge type of knowing exactly what they're doing.

I finally figured out how to buy the IDW comics and get them on my device in a readable format, but it looks like Kobo's files are much smaller than the size Amazon claims for theirs. It is what it is, I guess.

I used to buy them digitally from the IDW website but I stopped because it was the same price as physical unless you waited a month or two for it to be reduced. I didn't want to wait anymore and it seemed dumb to pay full price for digital so I found a local comic book shop and "subscribed" with them which means they hold a copy for me each time one comes out. I also order the collected volumes from a local bookstore for future rereading but those are so far behind I wouldn't keep up that way. Looks like the digital store on IDW now redirects me to an app but that might be because I'm on mobile right now.

There is no reason to assume they are lying about this especially since Nick is infamously crazy about voice acting. Like we don't have the contacts in front of us but odds are pretty good that all voice acting or no voice acting was a requirement for the contracts because one or more contract holder is aware how weird it would look if only thier characters were unvoiced.
