"It was always pitched as a 3D CGI animated project with all assets made available to @SEGA for a companion game release as part of the deal."

Oh my god. I am now so sad we don't have a Penders-helmed Sonic movie animated with all the love and care that went into the Donkey Kong Country show.

This whole arc has basically been filler, which is a pretty horrid thing considering how long it's been going for and how much longer it's probably going to last

They made an arc like this into filler? Seriously?

The comic mandates are pretty in line with everything Sega's done with the Sonic franchise- ie, massive overreactions to previous mistakes due to their own carelessness that fail to address the core of the issue.

Would be interesting to see if they tie in the movie stuff with the comic, since it's basically the first time we've ever had a real origin story for Sonic (besides the ol Dr Kintobor silliness) and actually explains a lot.

Sonic movie spoilers: Ironically enough, if we assume the Mushroom Planet is Mushroom Hill Zone, I'm pretty sure this puts Sonic's world very much in line with Mario's. In that humans totally exist, they're just populating a random kingdom / zone that the main cast doesn't usually interact with. Would that mean Earth and the town of Green Hills are basically just the New Donk City of the Sonic world?

Jim Cummings was pretty bad, even before the accusations. Even as a kid SatAM didn't really resonate that well because it had nothing to do with the games. The games were bright and colorful and semi-abstract, but the show was too bleak and dramatic.

At least AoStH tried to ape the aesthetics and tone of the games, and Long John Baldry, like all good Robotnik/Eggman voice actors, sounded like he had a blast doing it. SatAM Robotnik just sounded angry and bitter and sibilant all the time.

I think Flynn's Eggman in the Archie run did a good job of keeping the vileness of SatAM Eggman while keeping the pure joyfulness inherent to him as a character.

The Sonic speed comparison is incredibly simple, too. Sonic's normal max is speed of sound. He can go a bit faster than that if he pushes. Super Sonic can supposedly go speed of light.

Meanwhile, Flash's speed is effectively "yes". His upper limit is at the very least multiple times the speed of light. The Speed Force lets the Flash go at speeds that are best defined as "infinite". You do not go faster than Flash unless the writer says you do, and generally there's some reason you can keep up with "man whose body is powered by goes fast".

Sonic just can't do that, and that's fine, and the comic portraying them as equals is more or less "Those races were for charity, Clark" levels of handwaving. No big deal.

To be fair, the answer here apparently included Chaos Control.
