I'm not sure this is the right place but, Rooster teeth trailer for new thing (announced a while ago) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lOE4tIKwA3c

Nothing new, the scottish accent sounded familiar and I scroll down

quote:

gen:LOCK features Michael B. Jordan as Julian Chase, Maisie Williams as Cammie MacCloud, Kōichi Yamadera as Kazu Iida, Golshifteh Farahani as Yasamin “Yaz” Madrani, Asia Kate Dillon as Valentina “Val” Romanyszyn, Blaine Gibson as Sinclair and David Tennant as Dr. Rufus Weller aka Doc.

That's a decent amount of starpower for a Rooster teeth show.

Not sure if this is the right place (Again) but:

I mostly watch Polygon Videos because I think they are cute and fun, but it feels really weird how their Video content is out there and kind of nice and progressive and then.

Every written article I see from them is defending lootboxes or crunch or whatever.

I know there is a practical divide likely between their video and print teams but it still seems a little sharp

It's only a dumb PR screwup if you start from the assumption that the most vocal of their fanbase are obnoxious losers with a disdain for anything that doesn't cater directly to their very narrow interests. Otherwise it's just a game announcement.

I think it's a symptom of Blizzcon as they've crafted it, this giant behemoth for all their franchises. FF14 only holds fan conventions to announce a new expansion, while Blizzcon creates this expectation of grand announcements for everyone. This works for games like hearthstone with a multi expansion per year content cycle and somewhat for WoW but games with a more... standard? Model are just set to fail when they are put on the stage like that.

I think the announcement was a little silly at an event set for their core Fanbase who are all ready invested, but people are being rear end holes about it because gamers are the worst.

I feel pretty bad for Arin and Dan because they have got to put up with a lot of poo poo from people who can't separate Egoraptor or Danny Sexbang from the real people.

Also i'd guess the lack of Ghoul Grumps is due to them doing other things, like Danny had that Africa video out a few days ago and I guess had been doing more Ninja Sex Party stuff. But people came for game grumps, so they want more game grumps not whatever other content people want, that is pretty horrifying to me looking from the outside.

I guess I can understand why some people write fanfic, even though I hate the stuff, but why give it a Hugo? What’s next; are the Oscars going to start giving out awards to porn parody studios?

Speaking personally, my ambition is to get a book published, but I’ve always been horrified by the thought of someone else writing in my world or with my characters. It’s like having someone break into your house and kick over all your furniture, especially if they add smut to something that didn’t have it originally. I suspect a lot of writers feel the same way, even if most of them don't want to say it outright in case they piss off fans and lose sales.

Reminder The hugo is for the website itself, the archiving and storage methodlogy that allows things to be collected, curated and managed in an acessible way. Regardless of how you think of fanfic itself (which, gently caress off), the website itself is a marvel for collecting and storing work that would otherwise be lost to time.

(i'm aware you weren't directing it at me but it's a good post to respond to)

For me at least I don't expect anything, same I feel when I dunno some movie star defends Jonny dep or any other bad person in holywood. It's crappy, it may affect how much I can enjoy their content it may not. Like Scarlet Johannsen is the one to my mind for various statements and roles she played a whitewashed version of.

As for the spiderwebbing, for me at least Olly took part in the project itself so that's at least a dividing line for me. He has participated in a product that can quite easily be said contributed to doing some harmful things.

As someone who plays videogames or movies or consumes a product that exists, there's certainly an element of knowing some rear end in a top hat somewhere has a part in making the Sausage. The only argument i'd make for there possibly being an expected response is the direct cross promotion and interaction, there's (rightly or not) not level of disconnect like there is between the awfulness of a corporate entity.

It's 1 bad person (publically)

He hasn't actually said one word in defense of Buck Angel. Aside from his post saying he's in the Contra video he hasn't even said anything about that either. You can't actually say for sure if his post is even in reference to that.

In light of that, I can't help but think that this is...well, slightly disproportionate. I mean, it's not like any of the other shitload of people in the vid are getting anything like what he's getting.

I'd argue (as do a lot of people) that this sort of discussion is interesting contrasting his whole "Belive people when they say theirs smoke" line of discussion.

I mean if call myself poo poo if I promoted someone like buck so even if I follow this argument it's not the defence you think it is.

And I feel the fact that even with the context of the movie, the fact the USAF was using it as a big tool of "WOMEN POWER, COME BOMB PEOPLE" is probably a net negative.

IT was just interesting watching people in spaces arguing past eachother, because the movies message and how it's used in a wider context are at least somewhat opposite
