Glad Strucci and Bomberguy returned for another SCANLINE. I must admit I've held a quiet melancholy that there would only be one SCANLINE, but this next edition filled my heart with joy. Also love the new Trainwreckords by Todd. I laughed out loud at the Jungle Fever gag. Yeah, of course Robin Thicke would sing the worse Stevie Wonder song to serenade his future wife, what a square.

Was the Pinky and the Brain thing that last time NC could whip his clout up to collaborate with people from the entertainment industry? I remember a collaboration with Mara Wilson and another with Spike Spencer but I'm gonna guess he's not pulling in big names for cameos much anymore.

DTRH is more sympathetic towards his subjects compared to any 4chan-tier internet archivist, but sometimes his tone is a little too neutral and clinical for the content. Not always but sometimes, and it's always very jarring when it happens. Same thing with Night Mind– sometimes he's too flat and neutral when talking about disturbing stuff.

What about The Wall is "Oscar-baiting"? That's such a weird rear end-pull of a criticism.

What bothers me the most about the NC Wall review is that it's stupidly cynical. Accusations that it's Oscar bait or pandering because certain moments are a bit more sentimental than others just comes off as dismissive. Like, that kind of layman cynicism is just so shallow and biteless.

Max Wilco posted:It's the same sort of thing when I hear people talk about having a button to skip gameplay (though that's a topic in itself); why would you play a video game, but then not actually play the video game? Playing a video game, even stripped of all its "gameplay" is a fundamentally different experience than watching a movie, reading a comic, or reading a book. While someone might not like reading novels, they might enjoying playing this "Story Mode" in Baldur's Gate. Clicking on things and exploring, as simple as it is, might give the experience a tactile edge that they would get from watching a movie.

I've been watching her on and off since her Sorry To Bother You video and she's pretty good. Her Christian movie reviews are basically an exposé on the shady practices of Christian filmmakers which is something I haven't seen a lot before whenever someone on YouTube pokes fun at Christian films (note: I don't watch a lot of Renegade Cut stuff)

yeah, everyone came out to be in the latest ContraShow and it was her worst video in awhile. I'm not at the point where I'm going to quit watching Contrapoints but this latest one and the Men video didn't do it for me. I think it takes three strikes for me to quit watching a YouTuber and even then I will occasionally on them. This is pretty much what happened with Night Mind. I occasionally check out Night Mind to see if he's made anything I would like but nothing lately. I was never the biggest Kat Blaque fan but as Wynn has turned more and more into a caricature, I appreciate her down-to-earthiness.
