The only really bad parts of Last Jedi were the some of the jokes and weird word choices/idioms.

Like the 'Your mother' joke and Yoda saying the Jedi books were not 'page-turners'.

I don't think we've ever even seen paper in star wars, which I think is why that one stuck out to me.

I just want to say the most egregious part of that was Yoda using the term 'Page turner'. Like he says 'Page turners, they were not' about the Jedi books.

I really don't know why but that was like hear yoda say like 'gently caress the police' or something.

I just can't get over why that term messes with me so much.

(I also liked TLJ but also feel the Jedi books are weird. Why weren't they Jedi Holocrons? Holocrons are even like little Ai holograms right? You could have Luke's Holocron be in the next film teaching Rey, and have that whole emotional part where she tries to ask it something personal or beyond its AI and it's like a harsh reminder he's dead and she is basically on her own. Okay now I'm writing fanfic I'll stop)

Unless they got translated into galactic basic?

NOW I get why the page turners line gets me so bad.

IF the Jedi books are ancient relics, is Yoda just by chance a fan of unrelated trashy fiction from the ancient pre-space era? And that's why he knows the term 'page turner' in a world where there are only about five books and they're ancient antiques?'

They aren’t the Star Wars movies I wanted and I don’t think they’re what the franchise deserves but they aren’t horrible either.

But some of the takes I’ve seen just weird me out. Nerds really hate the pink-haired lady and it’s funny how transparently lovely they are about it.

In a movie where a character is an 8 foot nonverbal alien dog, what really pisses people off is that this woman dyed her hair pink. UNREALISTIC.

Yeah, there are real problems with the new films (like bad comedy beats) but of all the things to complain about its a char's hair colour?

I legit think it was just because of the association of 'woman with uncommon hair colour = SJW' stereotype. Like the Jordan Peterson types see a woman with pink hair giving orders to a man and they feel like they're the victim of a misandrist conspiracy to undermine their childhoods.

This is very true, and not to hate on the puppet but it did always seem to be like a lot of work for very little reward, a talking head can be fairly boring even when it's a human with actual expressions and gestures, but the puppet was just a box that flapped open and shut. Not that say, a still drawing would be better, but that is at least a time/effort saver in a way, but the puppet seemed just as much work if not more than just doing it live action.

The content of the videos was of course still good, but the box puppet did always seem like a strange choice. A bit like in Team America, where they also eventually decided puppets were a pain to work with after they finished.

In Watch Dogs 1 you're a psychotic white dude who keeps putting his family in danger so that he can keep murdering people based on computer statistics that predict they're going to do a crime, but he's also trying to stop the bad guys who are doing the same thing, and then at the end he becomes essentially a fascist surveillance state personified superhero.

Watch Dogs 2 has you play a black guy who's been profiled out of society by an the algorithm of the first game, joining a group of idealistic hacktivists who (mostly) nonviolently try to take down the crypto fascist Sillicon Valley CEO guy who runs the profiling system.

It's not perfect, but basically everything about the second game is like a direct refutation of the first. Even the hacking system gets expanded, instead of 'Press q to hack' every hackable device (and there are more) has like 4 different things you can do to it, as well as more global abilities you can use. Hell you can even complete most missions without stepping foot inside the enemy area if you use the drone/RC car and get creative.

So not only is the actual gameplay a lot better, the story framework around it is now actually fun and not completely stupid.

If you made like a statistical analysis of WW2 movies TV shows and Games I'm sure Omaha beach takes up like 50% of the entire thing.

Really if you went by big budget media 90% of the war was fought by americans in france, with Gremany surrendering in fear of the fierce American war machine just after they get into Germany.

5% is dying brits in Market Garden, 3% is evil Russians killing each other for retreating in Stalingrad, against the poor Germans who only want to escape the evil Russian encriclement, and the last 2% is split between the Pacific and the North Africa.

That's my hot take.
