The Azure meetup on Saturday was kinda a waste, I was tired as gently caress from waking up at 0400 to cover for a guy and the assumption was that I'd have to work Satuday/Sunday for him (although this turned out not to be the case).

Are we firing the guy? No, of course not!

Hes not getting fired because you keep covering for him. Good job wasting away your years taking care of an adult baby.

What are you talking about? Of course I dropped a dime on him.

There can be no obligation of solidarity with the work-shirker, he would shirk under a socialist mode of production the same as he shirks under the capitalist mode.

have you tried NOT covering for him, so that management is directly inconvenienced and thus more inclined to be in a firing/punishing mood?

tattling after you covered for him just makes his problems your problems, instead of making them managements’ problem.

IMHO

Also, I don't even want him fired. The guy's got kids and a wife who doesn't work. But I would like to see him check himself into rehab or some poo poo.

if he loses his job he could go to Epic and work on medical records systems in MUMPS

that might be enough to scare him straight

i kind of want to track down some old vb4 tech shirt or something, since all mine are new and bad products (i only like old and bad products) but dont think i ever saw ones for apps like that. was that still the days before novelty shirts eclipsed novelty mugs and mousepads?

I mean, it’s free here but who wants to be that guy who gets drunk on free beer (free beer as in free as in your mom)?

The pizza isn’t bad, and the Hefeweizen is actually p. deece.

I’m anticipating :lol:s will be had when they start talking about AWS’s IoT offerings.

Stay tuned!

I’ll be 100% honest, I don’t see how IoT is valuable outside of a very narrow set of use cases where IoT is essentially replacing already-existing sensors.

I don’t see the business case to justify the hardware, bandwidth, storage, and analysis costs (incrementally slight as they may be).

Is there a  where it gets bigger and bigger? That’s my view of IoT.
