Seems like they called it a technical because the excessive contact came after the initial foul.

It's one FT for a technical + two for the common foul vs. two FTs + possession for the flagrant one, which is why Van Gundy was ranting about how it's apparently advantageous for a defender to make excessive contact after you've already committed a regular foul

e: "excessive" might not be the technically correct word but you know what I mean

As always, Van Gundy is an idiot. The strategically optimal choice after you've committed a foul is to... not make it worse by making further excessive contact. Van Gundy's analyzing it as if the decision tree goes "given that I'm going to make excessive contact, how can I minimize the consequences of it?"

a raptor fouled a cav right after the rebound, yeah. completely pointless because they had a foul to give

The WatchESPN stream is the crowd-noise stream.

Also it’s showing a game from some weird European league with no scoring.

Probably Magic posted:

My mistake was starting off by rooting for a good team, which has ruined me forever.

Don't let your kids become Lakers fan right before they start a three-peat, is what I'm saying.

A few years ago, when I still lived in SF, I was taking a cab across town and the cabbie and I started talking about sports, and he mentioned he had a kid, maybe 8-9 years old, who he was trying to get interested in baseball. This was back in, like, 2015, so he was saying that, on the one hand, it was pretty easy to get the kid excited about the Giants because they kept winning and everybody was excited about baseball. On the other hand, he was also trying to be a good dad and explain to his son that yeah, this was great, your team just won the World Series and you should be happy about that, but it's not usually like this, and part of being a fan of a team is that you keep watching and caring even when they're not doing so well.

Anyway, I think he was also trying to get the kid to be interested in the A's, and I was like, welp, this is my corner, good luck with that, man.

Chris Webber also called one of the missed calls on Harden a six-point swing because the Warriors hit a three on their next possession.
