$10-$20 interest is pretty normal in the handful of games I have played. It doesnít start to get bad until it is above $30. At these rates, half paying should pretty easily cover interest for a couple rounds, or even let you get a loan payed off.

This game has a bit of the prisonerís dilemma to it. If one player is aggressive with loans and/or shorts, they will probably walk away with the game. If everyone does it, things can fall apart fast when the interest rate hits $50 or more.

Pass on all M&A for BELT and BESS

I will also pass on those for ALT and GTW.

A country where you can always get richer.

Pass with PLE. I'm taking "all" to mean no friendly sales either, so on we go to the second OR.

STR receives 35 from mail contacts.
Lays track at E1 exits SE/NW
Pays 20 to lay a second track at G1 exits NW/SW
Runs Indianapolis to Chicago (50) and Indianapolis to St. Louis (40). Total 90.
Pays half dividends, retaining 45.
Pays 30 interest.
Remains at 80 price with 30 holdings.

e2: Just checking, divs are paid out for income made on routes, right. The mail money stays in the company? Or is that wrong.
e3: checking the rulebook, I would guess so - they don't even pay out on your turn but at the start of the OR.

e: I made this last night, but I didn't post it in case the stock market changed any. Enjoy the bootleg tiles.

The General
Mar 4, 2007

Though I am not merging anything this round, for future reference, as soon as the companies merge, you immediately need to buy the stations. Then afterwards, you may take out loans? Else you end up in liquidations?

Mr. Squishy
Mar 22, 2010

A country where you can always get richer.

I don't believe you have to buy a station when merging 2-shares as you've already got 2 home stations out. When converting up, you need to buy a $50 station, which you may take out a loan to pay for.
Though this is just what I remember, so it's probably wrong.

The General
Mar 4, 2007

So gentlemen, we meet again.

7.1.1 Conversion posted:

The company must now purchase additional station markers. When a 2-share company converts to a 5-share it must buy one station marker for $50 provided the company currently has fewer than eight station markers.

Edit: Found my answer. Earlier in the same paragraph it says

quote:

The company may now take loans fol-lowing the instructions in section [1.2.5].

Usually you only want to convert if you have personal cash available to buy a share (or multiple shares for a conversion to 10 share).

EJE converts to 5 share
I buy one share at $65
Will not take any loans, regardless of how many shares get bought.

In turn order, people now have an option to buy a share.

At some point we should start doing these rounds properly in order which I am absolutely dreading.
e: also, two spreadsheet things which I'd like opinions on: I'm not giving Mergers their own tab because I don't think they need them at all. And I'm going to carve out a little Short Shares ledger for at-a-glance info, better than scouring a row for minus signs.

Sorry for my changeable nature, to restate General has the option to buy a share in EJE and then, since he already stated he's not merging, it goes back to Orvin for PSN, and THEN it's the stock round and Orvin's PD.
