So, this new Fallout thing is some kind of online game? Wasn't Bethesda the studio that was saying just a little while ago how committed they are to single-player? What happened to that?
This has probably been in development since before they said that. The Austin studio working on 76 was formed to make online games. They were originally making a game like Overwatch called Battlecry, but Zenimax/Bethesda wisely pulled the plug on it before Overwatch came out.

They are all owned by Zenimax, but you are correct that ESO is made by a different studio that is mainly ex-Mythic (Age of Camelot and Warhammer Online) people than Bethesda 'proper' or whatever you want to call Todd Howard and crew.
