If they stay true to the novel (which would make sense given how closely it's hewn so far) it won't end with a revolution or invasion, except as a far fast-forward, since the book's coda made it clear Gilead lasted a while (long enough to go through multiple cycles of purging generations of revolutionaries a la Lenin/Stalin/Khrushchev)

datajugend posted:I was kinda expecting it to be junes daughter. The lady of the house is the kind of person to do it I was going to say that was ridiculous based on the age of her daughter but then realized I'd have to argue the relative morality and effectiveness of marrying off 8 year olds vs. 12 year olds and yeah, so not a conversation I want to have.

So, nuclear strikes in LA and the Diablo Canyon nuclear plant (both of which have, I guess, glowing ghoul rebels or something holding them), Phoenix, and uh, rural Arkansas (I suppose because the book establishes the colonies as the screwed-over Midwest - there's literally nothing there except a lot of trees). Interestingly, the insurgency is far more developed than ever hinted at the series - not being able to hold most of the border is kind of huge. And I suspect the chunk of active rebellion in Vermont, a short drive away from Boston, is quite relevant for next season and not just a Bernie Sanders joke. Kammat posted:What the heck did Phoenix and the Arkansas/Missouri region do to get nuked? My guess for Phoenix is trying to cut off units retreating to California from further inland (both I-5 and I-10 would be pretty important to keep open), and Arkansas because the nukes were just sitting there Lum_ fucked around with this message at 04:26 on Jul 12, 2018 |

Interview with the showrunner, answers some things. Lots of spoilers, if avoiding vague spoilers for a year is your thing. https://spark.adobe.com/page/dkjLKOPQaP1Qh/ - Bradley Whitford/Cmdr Lawrence is back for S3, will interact with June a lot more directly - Aunt Lydia isn't dead "I don't think there are forces in the world strong enough to kill Aunt Lydia." - Looks like most of Season 3 will be "June joins the resistance", not "June goes back to Waterford's Island with the Professor and Mary-Anne"
