I grew up with a stereo cranked nearby while playing Pool of Radiance or Sonic the Hedgehog so playing (some) games now with podcasts going is just a continuation of that.

It's almost a shame so many games have great soundtracks and voice acting now, though. What's weird is that I can remember all the tunes from both Sonic and early 90's rock stations despite only listening to one or another at the time.

Bit the bullet last night and decided to beat Yak0.

I'd beaten the real estate royale and had 8 billion yen and the Legend fighting style unlocked, so for the final battle I just poured millions of yen into all the "more damage, more health, more heat" skills and it felt suitably epic.

I then had to put the PS4 in rest mode before seeing the end because Jesus it's like 2 hours of cutscenes!

Do any quick and easy board games come out these days? Feels like it's either a new variation of Cluedo or Monopoly vs a 5 hour session where you need to take notes and need 8 people

What do you consider a quick and easy board game? There are plenty of board games that come out that are short but I also consider short to be 30 to 60 minutes. I mean, there are good ones that last maybe 15 minutes as well, but yeah there are totes new games that, once you know the rules, will take maybe 30 to 60 minutes.

Yeah I'd say 30 minutes - 1 hour is reasonably quick.

Yeah, heaps. How many players are you talking about, and what kind of things do they like?

Also when you say "these days" do you mean stuff released in the past few years only?

Oh, I was just wondering rather than trying to come up with anything concrete, I get my board game news from guys at work who don't have wives and kids so have plenty of time to play long games so I was wondering if quicker games were dying out as they target the hardcore market.

Anybody here fans of giallo? What is your favorite game that you could describe as giallo?

Giallo is basically a sorta weird exploitation horror style of film and giallo games definitely exist (clock tower for snes and any other horror game by that dude counts) but they tend to...idk, it's weird. I was reading a conversation in the CineD horror thread about giallo and people described it as almost being like a stoner horror film. What would you say your favorite giallo game is, or at least name a game that you think can be described as giallo.

Sleeping Dogs

Yeah, I respond a lot better now to focussing on one game and knocking it off since, when I had multiple nights a week to game I used to switch around, play multi on Saturday night, that kind of thing.

Now when I can have like 2 hours max in a week, it's easy to stick to one. I beat Persona 5 but it took me months. Only problem is NG+ is out of the question especially when you have to go through all the content again.

Need some context on this.

If they're talking about Ladykiller in a Bind, it appears a rape (or near rape, if that is even a thing) scene was removed. From this article:

quote:

I can’t add in my own reaction because that scene isn’t part of the game anymore but I know that Kate Gray found it jarring, especially given the context of the rest of the game – here’s her description of this particular section:

“There are also transactional sex scenes late on in the game which are more akin to rape. There is the option to skip them, and there are content warnings, which are both important, but I think I’d rather not have a rape scene at all – especially not one in which the character, who is a lesbian being forced into unwanted heterosexual sex acts, says that she enjoys it.”

Going back to Love’s blog post about the change offers a bit more insight into the reasoning behind the scene:

“The original goal of the scene was to demonstrate a darker—certainly not safe IRL—fantasy to contrast with the safety of the Beauty’s arc. But even after multiple revisions, clearly a lot of players were extremely uncomfortable with its presence, and still ended up being blindsided—I think I failed to account for the player’s context, and I’d rather the scene be gone than make anyone else uncomfortable. My apologies to anyone who was upset by it. (In the interest of full disclosure, I’ve uploaded the full script of the now-deleted scene, so you can see what was removed.)”

Script link

Haven't played the game but reading that script it's a pretty creepo scene
