Fallout 3 was "cool" because I got to commute to work seeing ads of my city leveled by nuclear bombs. I walked to approximately where my apartment at the time would be. There was nothing there.

Yeah, for sauteing, it's totally fine. Smoke point is 405 F for good quality down 320 F for not so good with typical stovetop temperatures being more like 250 F. You *might* run problems with baking, but the oil will still have to equalize with the food around it and you don't really want to cook meat to e.g. 350 F.
