Sorry to hear about your troubles, DoctorGonzo. I think you know I'm a recovering alcoholic and I'm always here to talk, so reach out to me if you like either by PMs or FB or Steam. I don't want anything bad (worse) to happen to you. It's good that you realize it now, when you're starting to face consequences for drinking, rather than waiting until you lose everything (family, friends, job, will to live, ability to have functioning nerve endings, etc.). Getting kicked out by your dad may be a blessing in disguise :)

Grats on the sobriety, Fart Blood.

New Vegas was very good and I enjoyed it + all expansions, at least until my game started making GBS threads itself due to enormous save files or whatever. Turns out trying to do all of the things when you're on PS3 is not a good idea.

Dead Money felt like an entirely different game, but still a good game. It did a good job of presenting its message (despite maybe beating you over the head with it a little hard), and at the same time like any other TES or New Fallout game, my desire to loot ALL OF THE THINGS made it fun to run out with as much loot as possible, basically flipping the bird at the message.

I really liked the writing in Honest Hearts but I didn't love the gameplay/setting that much. Joshua Graham goes a long way towards making that a good expansion, along with the survivalist journals. It also starts the trend of people mentioning Ulysses.

It's a bit of both but it leans a little to the sweet side as it still has a bit of sugar in it and has the torched sugar on top (or else it would just be, i dunno, blue cheese pudding?)

I'm gonna make it for my mom as she declared it her 'Favorite Dessert EVER' and it was taken off the menu at my friends restaurant. So that's part of my mother's day gift :shobon:

No one will ever believe me on this, and I don't blame them, but Elder Scrolls Online has a lot of good writing. Memorable characters, touching emotional moments (for a game), and some interesting twists and turns. More than once I've been handed a quest decision where I'm genuinely not sure what option to pick.

It's made by Zenimax Online as opposed to Bethesda Game Studios, so I guess that's the difference. It's another good example of a company doing better with Bethesda's properties.

That really sucks, man :( I'm glad your dog had a long full life with a loving owner but I know that doesn't make things feel much better right now. My dog is going for a scan next week to hopefully figure out what is going on with his prostate, and it's not bothering me right now but if they tell me it's cancerous I'm going to be devastated. We already lost one of our cats at less than a year old to large-cell lymphoma, and my dog's only around 5 (he's a rescue so we dont know his exact age).

I'll hug my dog and my cat (despite her protests) an extra time in honor of your dearly departed.

It's from pages ago but i'd like to extend my love and support to the WH2K goons suffering from mental illness, in addition to my fellow alcoholics. I'm diagnosed bipolar and am very fortunate to have found the right combination of prescriptions that work for me, with minimal-to-no side-effects. Not everyone is so lucky, and many don't have the health care they need and deserve to begin with, but just telling you it CAN (and with time and effort, will) get better. That probably sounds like horseshit if you have depression (or it did to me, back then) but it's true. My life now is unbelievably better than it was before, and in terms of wealth/relationships/etc. it hasn't actually changed much, my brain just no longer wants to kill me.

In unrelated but exciting to me news, I'm going on my first real vacation with my girlfriend this Sunday! :) 7 Day cruise to Bermuda, and I am going to get FAT and TAN for realsies. It's our first time out of the country, first cruise, and first real trip (as in, not 3 day weekend) in our 6+ years together :)

I only watched the first Harry Potter film and it was OK, and my sister tried to get me into the books when they first came out and I thought the writing was nothing special. I don't fully understand its popularity but that's fine, people can enjoy what they want.

But the grown adults who compare every loving thing to Harry Potter are a goddamn blight, doubly so when it's serious subject matter. I've thankfully never heard it in person but it's all over the internet and its painful.

Thanks pals. :)

my suggestion is the korean comedy / variety show called "men on a mission" on netflix. I believe it is also known elsewhere as "knowing bros" and can probably be found online pretty easily.

The very start is kinda rough because they have no idea what they're doing with the show, although the cast is already likeable. once they enter the 'we're in a school and our guests are visiting from another school' format, you're good to go

Yeah, I don't think it's helpful to think of the time you spent sober as wasted or gone. There's a massive difference between someone picking up a drink one night and regretting it the next day and redoubling their efforts, and someone picking up a drink and going right back to the full-blown addiction, ruining their life and the lives of those around them, stumbling along in misery for years or decades before trying to get sober again. You drank, and you're not happy about it, that's a good result. Try not to drink again.

I don't really care much about Superhero films and I've watched almost none of the recent comic book movies so maybe I'm disconnected from the fan attitudes too much, but that Joker movie looks interesting. For stuff like this, I don't mind just seeing it as an alternate interpretation of the character, or a different story that ends up in a similar (if not identical) place. Like if this movie wasn't about the Joker From DC Comics specifically, would I want to see it? If yes, then I should check it out. If not, I probably shouldn't.

If I felt overly attached to the characters then I would probably be angry or dismissive every time someone diverts from the Mark Hamill-voiced Joker and yell NOT MY JOKER at all the movies. Ledger's Joker wasn't the same as the Joker I knew as a kid, but it was still good.
