I hadn't seen the original video so I didn't really get the sketch and when I saw the original it was way funnier anyway. You shouldn't need to have watched some specific thing to get a joke in a sketch with a mass audience like this. Then again I'm old and grumpy so maybe that's what the kids like now.

Naah bro I’m old and grumpy too. But they’ve only done it a couple times that have made it to air I can recall, and they were. It’s Kate mackinnon being a funny old lady so I can’t complain too much.
